Flint Group, a 8,000+ employee company acquired AIC among other companies, with a global presence and participating in most industry segments as water base, solvent, paste, UV and EB inks and coatings. Direct and Manage operations of San Leandro California Plant until its closure in May 2018, merged production and product distribution into the Ontario facility successfully with no impact to customers.

Key Achievements:

oKPIs: 99.0% On Time In Full order shipments, under 1% of aged inventory over 120 days, 0% over 270 days, OT under 10%, First-Pass-Quality over 90%, inventory adjustments under $5K/mo. Zero quality/on time complaints in over 12 months.

oZero recordable accidents in over 1,350 days, previous record of 2,950 days,

oMonthly Safety Self Audits

oSustainability projects: Warehouse LED lights with motion detection, window insulation, waste water reduction by 30%, recycle program for empty IBCs and drums.

oDigi-Board: Developed software connected to SAP. AIC, a water base ink manufacturer with 200+ employee was established 2000 and grew to be the leader in the US in many segments by 2015; acquired Graphic Sciences in 2011. With AIC, the Ontario facility, a high paced operation, was able to focus on higher end accounts and boosted profitability, in 2013 the facility was relocated to a 50% larger warehouse with no missed orders.

Key achievements:

-Ranked #1 facility in % profitability. Ranked #1 in $ profitability in 2013 and 2015 exceeded budget every single year.

-Inventory variances under 1.2% every year.

-Zero obsolete inventories and less than 1% of inventory aged over 365 days.

-Created performance monitoring variables for plants: days on hand, inventory adjustments, production variances, overtime and outbound freight.

-Zero lost time recordable accidents.

-Converted Gretag Macbeth QC system into X-Rite.

As a Regional Manager, I oversee the San Leandro, California operation, implementing the same successful programs developed in Ontario through the years. Also, assisted with inventory planning in the Lithia Springs GA, Fairfield OH and Romeoville IL facilities.

Operations Manager for Graphic Sciences Inc., Ontario Facility

2006-2011 (to present)

Graphic Sciences, Inc. has been in the market of water based inks and coatings since 1987; in 2006 I was transferred to the Ontario Facility. The company struggled from 2007 to 2010 due to some main customers filing for Chapter 11, sales tanked in some segments and we had to cut costs dramatically. The Ontario facility was profitable every year from 2008 until the sale to AIC in 2011.

Main Responsibilities:

-Production planning.

-Inventory management and purchasing.

-Technical Service.

-Created an integral Quality Control program with file system based on a Gretag Macbeth espectrophotometer, reducing QC process time, increasing accuracy, traceability and customer complaints.

-Personnel training, hiring/firing.

-Safety.

-Ink and Varnish Formulation. Formulated a new bright white for wax cascaded produce box market, used across the West Coast.

-Temp agency interaction for new/temp hires.

-Waste reduction, cost reduction, old inventory reuse.

-Customer Training and Seminars.

-Managed 7 direct employees.

Operations Director of Graphic Sciences Mexico

2000-2006

Graphic Sciences, Inc. has been in the market of water based inks and coatings since 1987; in 2000 the first facility outside the US was established in Mexico City.

Achieved growth in sales: 2002: 27%, 2003: 64%, 2004:32% and 2005: 51%.

Diversify customer accounts and target industries.

Successfully met sales budget from 2003 to 2006.

Reduced ink cost production with local raw materials and formulations, achieving savings of $265,000 US in 2004, 16% of yearly sales.

Implemented a freight cost reduction program, yield saving of 22%.

Customer satisfaction initiative, having an average of 98/100 points for 2004 regarding 1) Quantity, 2) Timely deliver and 3) Quality.

Managed 21 employees.

Additional Responsibilities:

Owner, established 1996, developed and commercialized software.

Administrative software:

-Developed an ERP system for invoicing, inventories, manufacturing, lab control, QC, receivables and payables for chemical industries, sold to Pierce and Stevens de Mexico (Headquarters in Buffalo, N.Y.) and Graphic Sciences de Mexico (Headquarters in Portland, Oregon). Client-Server database using Borland InterBase and Borland Delphi.

-Web page design for several companies, implemented with HTML, ASP and database access for web reporting.

-Designed an ink dispensing software for an automatic ink dispensing machine with Beckhoff’s PLCs and a computer linked scale with Borland Delphi and MS Access Databases

-Wrote several user and technical manuals.

Environmental software:

-Developed, commercialized and maintained self-diagnosis software for environmental regulation. System was enhanced with the addition of civil protection, energy, health, occupational safety and hazardous material transportation issues (PACO www.paco.net.mx).
