Mayo Clinic - Austin, MN

September 2015 to October 2023

I worked at Mayo Clinics Health Information Department for 8 years. I worked in the clinical setting inside the Austin Campus for 3 years. I worked remotely for the remaining 5 years. I worked closely with Microsoft programs, running daily reports for clinical visits. With clinical visits, I ensured there was proper documentation for each visit and assigned deficiencies to providers if they were non-compliant with Mayo's documentation guidelines and expectations. Epic was the latest EMR utilized by all Mayo campuses in the US. While implementing the new EMR, I was selected to be a Super User for my region. I traveled to train on different campuses, and partook in the unveiling weekend when Epic went live. My daily assignments over the 8 years I was employed by Mayo changed to where help was needed. I was hired to complete analysis on clinical encounters from four to five different campuses in Minnesota. I was then cross trained to complete analysis on Inpatient encounters. This included Emergency Room visits, Ambulance Reports, Surgical Procedures and Services, Long-term Inpatient, Short Term Inpatient, Discharge Summaries, and ensuring all documentation was accurate, timely, and complete. I was also cross trained to complete all Surgical services, Inpatient and Outpatient. I was fluent in working encounters that needed to be assigned to their responsible party which included physicians, nurses, study coordinators, technicians, and other clinical staff. I utilized different applications within Epic to investigate who needed to complete their documentation or provide a signature. I was also educated with the proper steps to access provider's inbaskets within the EMR. This ensured I was able to do quality checks that clarified the deficiency was successful sent to the responsible parties for completion.
