OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR/SPECIALIST
Manage operations within the Heavy Weight Division, overseeing all maintenance and repairs for trucks, supervising staff, and monitoring pallet loads for the distribution company. Initially joined the organization as a part-time clerk at Menlo in Spokane, WA, and with only two weeks of training, asked to run operations full time for six weeks while the operations supervisor was on an extended leave due to health. Interviewed with Menlo/UPS in Portland after one year and was hired full time as a morning clerk before moving into the supervisory role within six months just before UPS purchased Menlo.
• Direct the performance and tasks of two supervisors who in turn
oversee 13 drivers.
• Monitor the building of containers in addition to performing
dispatch, payroll reconciliation, and hazmat regulations.
• Manage proof of deliver documentation, entering information into
an automated system and generating images of signed paperwork to
verify delivery from offline carriers, filing under proper
shipment numbers.
• Print out all documentation for inbound flights daily, including
cargo on board, forwarding to drivers for verification that all
listed items are actually on the flight, and notating extra or
missing parcels, entering discrepancies into an automated
system.
• Procure automotive supplies, driver uniforms, and office
supplies.
• Ensure vendors are properly compensated for servicing trucks,
reconciling invoices.
• Assumed the role of Supervisor II during an unexpected and
lengthy absence of the person in the position, performing the
tasks of Operations Supervisor in addition to holding this
accountability for five months to manage all operations in
Portland, and also cover vacations for staff.
• Designed forms for drivers in MS Word and MS Excel to assist
with inspections of freight and weight verifications.
• Traveled throughout the country as part of the Occupational
Champion Team to audit other service centers prior to Covid.
• Recognized as a certified expert in Hazmat audits, and as a
Hazmat trainer for the company.
