- Resumes must be typed and neatly spaced. Spelling must be perfect, and margins must be lined up neatly.
- Your name should be the largest and boldest thing, centered and at the top of the page page so that it stands out. Use an easy-to-read font. Use your nickname if that’s how you want to be known in the industry.
- Union affiliations, if you have any, should be listed under your name. - The words HAIR, EYES, HEIGHT, AND WEIGHT should be in capital letters; descriptions in lowercase.
- List date of birth (D.O.B.) if you are under 18.
- List the current phone number and email where you can be contacted - FILM, TELEVISION, THEATRE, DANCE, COMMERCIALS, VIDEOS,
EDUCATIONS, TRAINING and SKILLS are the categories of information and should be in large bold type, so they stand out.
- Do not list that category at all if you have no credits in that area. - The information and credits listed in each category should be in smaller type, in upper and lower case letters and appear under the heading of each category (not on the same line), in 3-column format.
- The SKILLS category should include skills for which you might be hired for a commercial, movie or TV show. You may be asked to demonstrate your skills at an audition. Do not list modeling or inactive hobbies, such as reading or computer data entry. List language and most impressive or unusual skills first! See some ideas below.
- S P A C E O U T T H E I N F O R M A T I O N neatly so that it takes up one 8”x10” area. Resumes should never exceed 1 page
- If an audition asks for a hard copy, print out the resume and securely attach your headshot to the back of your resume with glue or staples.
- If an audition asks for a digital copy, your resume should ALWAYS be sent as a PDF file.
