Resume
Resume: I currently have worked in
construction for 12 years. But I do have a
very diversified background. I was in my
own business as an auto-mechanic, for 10
years back in the 80's. Throughout the
70's, and, early 80's, I was a planetarium
Lecturer, for the Foothill, and De Anza
planetariums, for 12 years. I was also
director for the 'Solar Observation
Program,' for 8 years, allowing visitors, to
observe the sun through a 6" refracting
telescope with a Hydrogen/Alfa filter
attached. I also gave short courses in
astronomy over the summers, and traveled
to 32 different schools guest lecturing.
After the successful completion of a 2 year
welding program in 1985, I became a
certified TIG welder. I then worked briefly
for a welding vendor - Anderson's Welding
& Manufacturing, welding 8 foot .040 thick,
mild steel doors in San Jose, before
becoming an entrepreneur, and, marketing
an innovative method for deriving all 12
equations of Ohm's Power Laws, in DC,
within a 7 letter formula (that, later
became seen as an algorithm). I had been
encouraged by my electronic's instructor
to publish it. I got together with a graphic
artist - as I was not savy with a computer
at that time - where a two-card fold-out,
was designed, showing how to use the
algorithm, and, whereby, I then marketed
the product to 27 State Universities, and
Universities, across the country. In 1990,
'Inline-skating' (perhaps more popularly
known as 'Roller-Blading'), became the new
'sport's craze,' and, due to lower-back
injuries, I addressed the issue, by inventing
a lower-back protective device, that I called
a 'Pelvic Protector.' I designed, and built
the equipment to manufacture it, and, then,
getting very favorable recognition and
reviews, commenced to market this
product, for the next 10 years (throughout
the 90's). It appeared in such high profile
publications, such as the 'Thomas
Register,' 'Outside Magazine,' and, 'Snow
Country Magazine,' (as it became also
useful for snowboarders). The product
appeared in 'Outside Magazine's' 'Best
Gear 96,' and, in the year 2000, I received a
letter from the BBB, (Better Business
Bureau), commending me for 10 years of
product activity, without a single complaint
for protective inability, or, defect in
material workmanship. As well as
manufacturing the product pursae, I
stitched the covers as well. At that time, I
had three sewing machines. In the late
90's, I looked for additional work to pay for
the advertising of the product, working as
a dispatcher for a company called, 'Airport
Service,' for three months. Here, I was
introduced to the use of a computer, and,
one program, to help dispatch shuttles,
and a limo, to pick-up, or drop-off,
passengers, arriving, or departing, the
various airports in the Bay Area. I then,
was hired by a construction company -
'Forest Work's Construction,' in Mt. View, to
learn to become a 'Construction
Scheduler.' After reviewing my resume
showing audio-visual experience with the
planetarium, they thought I would make a
good candidate. They (the president, vice
president, and, marketing director), then
commenced to grill me, every day, for the
next three months, on the most advanced
computer program for construction
projects, called, 'Project 98.' During this
time, they were also showing me how to
operate a computer. And, that computer,
was a 'Gateway.' At the end of the three
months - which included tutorials at there
residences, I had become a 'Cracker-Jack,'
- if you will - on both the program, and, the
computer. However, the ending of training,
marked the beginning of winter - a time
period when construction can go into a
slow-down, and, they were forced to lay off
11 people. I was one of them. I then,
began working for temp. agencies, starting
off with 'Pro Staff.' And for the next three
months, worked as a data-entry employee,
for several companies, such as the notable
art dealer, 'Thomas Kincade.' Having
transcribed for my father, (a court reporter
in partnership, as Obujen & McCutcheon in
Palo Alto, for 40 years),in my younger
years, I became a pretty proficient typist,
with a typing speed of 45 wpm., and, 54,
after a time. I then, began working for
PAUSD, (Palo Alto Unified School District),
as a teacher's assistant, for Special Ed.
students, those with learning disabilities.
Because of my positive interaction, and,
abilities to relate, and, apply teach
students of different ages (I was said to be
able to easily change gears), I believe, the
department was beginning to groom me
for working with autistic & and children
with 'Asperger's Syndrome.' In the year
2012, I went into the construction industry,
and, worked with four temp agencies.
'Labor Ready,' on West San Carlos St.,
since moved to Space Park Dr., Santa
Clara, 'Labor Finder's,' on 4th and Archer, in
San Jose, 'Express,' on Technology Dr., San
Jose,and, much later, 'Chartwell,' on
Component Street, in San Jose. Approx.
three years ago, I was nominated
'Employee of the Year,' by 'Express.' I
worked four months for 'Tesla,' as a 'Parts
Inspector,' through Chartwell. As of late
(the last few years), I've been working with
just 'Labor Finder's, and, 'People
Ready.' (Formerly 'Labor Ready'). My
interests are quite varied. For past time
activities, I play chess at level 12. On the
computer, I learned to be a pilot, logging in
250 hours on a Cessna 280 (retractable
landing gear), and, 250 hours on a Lear
45. I ended my computer training with a
round-the-world trip, on the Lear 45,
starting at Keflavik, Iceland, before going
to actual ground school, for nine weeks, at
the Palo Alto Airport. This, I very
successfully completed, along with three
actual flights in the air. I'm still competent
in all the major sports - football,
basketball, baseball, swimming, and
tennis. I'm a competent skier. I've won
awards in bowling, and, skiing. When I
was a teenager, a friend of mine, and I
spent the summer training as a lifeguard.
I'm also, a 5.6 rated rock climber. My
current passions, besides chess, are
reviewing NTSB reports on aircraft
accidents, and, doing movie and restaurant
reviews, for 'Google,' and 'Trip Advisor.' On
just my small amount of photos this far, I
have had over 80,000 views. I currently
have a Local Guide Rating of 5, and am on
the cusp of transitioning from Novice to
Expert. My second language is German,
with about a 15,000 word vocabulary.
However, I had also at one point - years
ago - a 2,000 word vocabulary in Japanese,
a 500 vocab. in Chinese, a 500 word vocab.
in Russian, a 2,000 word vocab. in Polish,
and, a 500 word vocab. in sign language,
and, a 2,000 to 3,000 word vocab in
Spanish. I've had one high school class in
French. In addition, I could count to a
million in all those languages except
French. I've been told many times, I am a
good writer, and have received a
commendation from 'Scripts Sleuth,' on
one scene I reviewed, from the movie, ' No
Country for Old Men,' staring, Josh Broken,
Tommy Lee Jones, and, Javier Bardem.
I've also written a 600 page book on my
life, which I have yet to compile into a
manuscript. My academic background,
includes an AA. Degree with Honors, in
Liberal Arts, and, Psychology, from De
Anza College, and, as mentioned before, a
2 year welding program at CSM (College of
San Mateo), to certify as a TIG Welder. I'm
also certified in all welding applications.
I'm also, certified - with 3 certificates - as a
fork lift driver, with 8 years experience. In
addition, I'm a qualified scissor's lift
operator. Militarily, I did 3 tours in
Vietnam, having been there almost 4 years,
'1967,' '68,' '69,' and, '70.' I received a
nomination, for the 'Presidential Unit
Citation', am a recipient of 'The Navy Unit
Commendation Medal,' (equivalent to the
'Silver Star,' on an individual basis),
nomination for the 'The Navy Achievement
Award,' recipient of The Letter of
Commendation, and, along with other
citations, and, involved in over 5
campaign's. Having joined the Navy in
1966, I honorably discharged in 1972.
