Laboratory Skills

• Diagnostics: Microbiology, PCR, Biochemistry, Hematology, Histo-Pathology, Both manual and automated techniques in immunohematology/ Blood Banking, Coagulation tests, Serological techniques, body fluids, Urine and other specimens for diagnostic purposes, Histo-pathology, tissue preparation, and assays, IHC microscopy, Multichannel Flowcytometry and ELISA. Familiar with parasitology, Virology, Mycology techniques. Staining techniques: gram, methylene blue, H & E, Wright/Giemsa, multicolor immune-fluorescent staining.

• Familiar with computer environment, preparing and reporting patient’s results, familiar with storing a hard copy version of report when it comes to the limitation of computer to save the data. Comply to maintain staff and lab documentation according to CLIA standards.

• Understand and apply quality control for sample and equipment for each discipline of medical laboratories and correlate the data obtained from quality control performance to upgrade the daily quality of work in each department.

• Understand and maintain in depth the institutional policies, processes, and procedures in order to produce results accurately while operating the instruments based on GLP and ability to correlate the results with the patient’s pathological condition.

• Knowledge of instrumentation and procedures to assist colleagues and supervisor in troubleshooting and make sure to come up with a solution to resolve the problem.

• Manage daily workload in a qualitative, productive, and timing manner.

• Able to review and approve test reports and quality control results. Report and improve out-of-control results.

• Correlate results based on deep knowledge of specimen requirements, quality control and integrity of problems.

• Familiar with the patient demographic and consequences of disease stated on laboratory results and follow through appropriately.

• Detect and report unusual conditions to my immediate supervisor.

• Check the proper function of equipment, clean and calibrate it if needed.

• Ability to design a new test procedure using new equipment, or method including modifying, designing, and writing up a new procedure with final approval of lab director.

• Able to organize the laboratory inventory and supplies and maintain them.

• Keep myself updated by maintaining knowledge via attending workshops, reading new articles and participating in professional organizations.

• Deep knowledge of classical bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, virology diagnostic tools to isolate and identify pathogenic bacteria and fungi using microbiological tools.

• RIA for identification of biochemical compounds in human body fluids and tissues.

• Chromatography techniques; TLC, HPLC, GC, GCMS.

• Drug and vaccine development for therapeutic and prevention of diseases Molecular Biology techniques:

• Cell and tissue culture, 3D cell culture.

• Multi-channel fluorescence cell sorting techniques to examine WBC and RBC abnormalities (flow cytometry) analysis.

• DNA extraction and quantitation

• Protein extraction, SDS PAGE and Immuno-blotting

• PCR for bacterial and viruses’ diagnosis. Perform Covid-19 test and report it to the states.

• Immunohistochemistry: Multi-color immuno-fluorescent assay and IHC microscopy.
