Instruct and train individuals with various physical and mental disabilities using adaptive martial arts, Self Defense and fitness related techniques to improve fitness, gross, fine and perceptual motor skills, confidence and well being.

Mark Twain Satellite (Long-term Sub – Computer Technology) September - November 2006

Developed instructional materials and lesson plans for use in teaching computer and access technology skills.

Provided instruction to students in computer skills, access technology (internet and Microsoft Office included) using current software.

Taught touch-typing/keyboarding skills to high school level students, some of them with emotional disturbance (ED) and ADHD.

San Diego Unified School District (Substitute Teacher) November 2004 - June 2006

Performed the instructional and classroom management processes for teachers who were absent for a day or longer periods of time. This includes taking attendance, explaining classwork/homework, achieving lesson goals and maintaining classroom cleanliness.

Adhered to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by regular teacher while complying with all school regulations and policies.

Balboa Elementary (Internship - Special Day Class Teacher) September - November 2004

Worked as an interning teacher with students who had a variety of learning, mental, emotional and physical disabilities, adapting lesson plans, and teaching multi-subject curricula based on small groups of varying ability.

Assessed each student and designed benchmark goals to customize their IEPs, and communicated this in parent meetings.

Provided appropriate physical and psychological environment to reinforce appropriate student behavior and social skills.

Skills

I have experience teaching a wide variety of students of different age and ability level within the San Diego Public School System. I can and have designed and communicated IEP’s, and can effectively manage a classroom using clear rules, procedures and by implementing an effective discipline program. . I have experience setting goals for students based on their individual ability and learning style, often tailoring lessons to student needs and designing curricula geared toward their ability and grade level and taught core curriculum using a variety of techniques to reinforce learning and daily living skills to help prepare students for life after graduation. As a long term sub, I’ve taught subjects such as keyboarding and use of Microsoft Office applications such as Power Point, and am knowledgeable and capable of teaching in other areas of multimedia such as filming/editing, graphic design and video/music production.

From November 2006 to November 2011, I took some time off to help my mother care for my stepfather who had ALS.
