Assigned to WMIS (Windows Media & Internet Services) via CompuCom on a 1 year contract. Windows media desired to create an internal operations team to compliment an external monitoring team. I was tasked with helping form this team, using my experience and skills from working with Microsoft Operations. My role as an Engineer was to identify gaps in coverage, refine triage and maintenance processes, manage all infrastructure related issues, coordinate with our datacenters to detect and resolve any hardware issues. I also worked with developers on troubleshooting and resolving any data processing issues with our network and ensuring the highest availability for the entire global market. WMIS traffic exceeds iTunes and maintaining high availability was a welcome challenge. Aug. ’06 – Dec. ‘07

Prior to my recent promotion, I was assigned to Hewlett Packard @ Microsoft Main Campus (MXPS Operations Center) where our department manages and administers all of Microsoft’s Beta, Pre-production, and Production servers in a 24x7 environment. I’m responsible for identifying and trouble-shooting all issues that affect the uptime and availability of Microsoft.com, TechNet, MSDN, Windows Mobile, Windows Media, and other MXPS assets under our aegis. Support provided entails using practical knowledge to manage incidents within their network infrastructure. Specific duties include hardware and software troubleshooting, forensic investigation, managing mission critical events and coordinating with onsite engineers in datacenters around the country. In addition, I also provide Tier 3 application and network support for VIP clients within the scope of our network. Due to my rapid assimilation of techniques and protocol, I’ve also been tasked with special projects to fast-track our training of new hires, consolidating documentation into TSG’s (Trouble-Shooting Guides) for Tier 1 and Tier 3 support personnel, upgrading intranets, and upgrading processes in order to streamline our response times to meet or exceed our SLA’s.
