Crop, Soil and Pest Management Dept, Federal University of Technology Akure

• Research Summary: The research was conducted to determine if rabbit pellets can be used as an alternative to inorganic

fertilizer (NPK). The pellets were applied to the Hybrid maize plant in various rates, also combined with NPK fertilizer and

applied to the crop. Various data was collected to analyze the results. Key achievements

• Performed proximate analysis, used Kjeldahl techniques in nitrogen and protein determination and other essential nutrients

demonstrated that the use of rabbit pellets - also resulted in proper fruiting.

• Collected data on growth parameters such as plant height, leaf area, stem girth, tassel development, etc

• Carried out initial soil analysis to determine availability or deficiency in nutrients, which served as a guide to the proper

application of treatments.

• Utilized SPSS statistical software, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine the stability of the experimental

techniques and results.
