DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To promote the highest standard of clinical nursing care. Taking effective decisions in emergency situations. Ensure effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care through the development of written care plans.

Plan, co-ordinate unit activities and collaborate with the health team members to ensure high quality patient care.

Ensure effective reporting of incidents including sentinel events; carry out appropriate analysis and institute corrective and preventive actions.

Improving revenue by managing the inventory, thus lowering costs and also eliminating wastage so as to ensure better profitability and better performance of the department. Ensuring that the unit equipment's and instruments are maintained in good working order.

Having the leadership quality to mould a group into an effective team.

Act as a nursing supervisor in his/her absence and performing other related duties as assigned.

To maintain good working relationship with nursing care team and participate in Nursing Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives, in –service education programs, unit meetings. Administration of medications,preparing patients for various medical and surgical procedures,pre and post operative care. Tracked vital signs, laboratory data, and responses to determine need for emergency intervention.

Assisted physicians with procedures such as colonoscopies endoscopies, and intubations.
