Objective: I have worked at different fields of human services and resources as a Clinical Mental Health Specialist since 2014. During the time, I have improve a great deal on professionalism, meeting agency’s productivity requirements, how to provide services to my clients with different mental health sxs. 03/15/2020-Present- Hope Cooperative, New Direction Program formerly known as TLCS – Sacramento CA.

New Direction Hope Cooperative is a nonprofit that moves people from a life of instability by providing mental health services, substance-use rehabilitation, life skills and permanent supportive housing.

Provides trauma-informed mental health rehabilitation services

Specify the goals, treatment, service activities/interventions, and assistance to address the agreed upon objectives of the client plan, social, educational and other services needed by the client

Provides case management to assist client in learning to live within the limits of their trauma while resuming life back in the community.

Assists with assessment and intervention in client crises, including necessary follow-up, using appropriate consultation.

Completes clinical records and other required documentation in accordance with agency.

Monitors residents’ behavioral changes, reinforces positive appropriate behavior, offers counseling and support to residents in need, and reports observations to the supervisor.

Helps client and family through individual or group conferences to understand, accept and follow medical recommendations.

During my time at New Direction, in addition to learning the skills of providing services to different types of personality and learned ways to use different communication skills with each client and their personality, such the listening to their verbal and observing their non-verbal ways of communicating so I can better provide them with my support, I learned the different aspect of case management, implementing trauma inform interventions to crisis response. The impact I made with my clients was giving them some form of direction, plan, on how to better understand and manage their mental health sxs as a result allowing the clients to gain self-worth, increase of self-esteem, self-integrity and providing a safe ground to improve their quality of life.

06/15/2017-03/10/2020- Children’s Home Of Stockton – Stockton CA

Children’s Home of Stockton (CHS) offer a stable nurturing home environment to those who need it most. CHS provides licensed and accredited Short-Term Residential Treatment Program that treats youth ages 12-18 and non-minor dependents who have suffered acute trauma and have pre-existing social, emotional, and behavioral issues.

10/2016-05/2017 – Turning Point Crisis Residential Program – Sacramento, CA

Crisis Residential Program (CRP) provides a 30 day respite for adults with psychiatric disabilities who have become suicidal, or critically depressed. The services provided at CRP routinely avert the need for hospitalization with the integration of values to include member input and peer support, program flexibility, mutual trust, and working together.

Provides short term treatment for adults who have become suicidal, critically depressed, or otherwise psychiatrically incapacitated.

Facilitate the psycho-social groups to increase client’s interpersonal social skills, improve communication between clients and decrease social anxiety.

Conduct interviews and intake with new clients to explain the house rules.

I learned a great deal on mental health and mental health crisis; and how clients perform and behavior better when their basic needs are met. The impact I impose on my clients daily is giving them the value of self-worth by actively listening to what they have to say and promoting their values to build a better rapport.

05/2015-11/2016 – TLCS Mental Health Crisis Respite Center – Sacramento, CA

TLCS offers several mental health recovery programs that provide supportive services to individuals with a psychiatric disability to achieve the goals they have set for themselves to increase their quality of life. It is a 24/7 program; however, the client can only receive respite for 23 hours.

Support individuals with active listening

Answering calls.

Prepare and modify documents including reports, drafts, memos and emails.

Maintains records for staff office space, phones, and office keys.

Creates and modifies various documents using Microsoft office.

Provide general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing and copying to management.

Assist in resolving any administrative problems.

During my time working at TLCS, I learned a great deal on time management, researching for resources and how to provide services to my clients at a fast pace environment within the 23-hour time that the clients are in the program. The impact I made with my clients was being able to help with their current crisis, listen actively and connecting them with resources that they seek. At the end of the day, they just want to know that someone listened to their story and reasons for their crisis.

06/2014 – 05/2015 – Strategies To Empower People, Inc. (STEP) – Sacramento, CA

STEP is an agency that work to empower individuals with physical or psychiatric disabilities. STEP work with their clients in regulating community re-entry.

Work to empower people with disables by helping to develop and promote client’s independence

Involving clients into the community.

Supporting clients with their resources and how to utilize them.

During my time working at STEP, I learned to arts of patience. Working with individual with disability, they are not always going to be as fast pace as everyone else, so I learned being patient and bring my pace to their level works better when working with this population. The impact I made with my client with giving my client the ability of feeling like she was part of the community and encouraging her independent.
