Run the day to day operations of the Environmental program making sure compliance is met by not only the site and all personnel, but the contractor handling the waste for the site for two buildings. Perform OSHA, NFPA and MDE/EPA daily compliance visits, teach rules, regulations and compliance to staff, and immediately correct any safety issues or non-compliance. Update SOP’s, Emergency Response Plans, Emergency Action Plans, Spill Response Plans, SPCC, CHP, Fire Drills, Weather incidents, Active Shooter, and other SOP’s as needed. Review JHA’s. Conduct new hire training, refresher training and yearly training for staff. Provide onsite emergency response for spills, fires, medical emergencies, and other issues. Title: USUHS Environmental Program Manager

Henry Jackson Foundation: August 31, 2020 to May 28, 2021 Bethesda, MD

I was in charge of the entire USUHS environmental program. I was a hazmat technician/specialist, field chemist who was titled USUHS Environmental Program Manager. I was responsible for collecting, labeling, packing, disposing of all hazardous, non-hazardous, universal waste and Bio-waste. I was also responsible for all paperwork, EPA, MDE and OSHA compliance checks for All USUHS buildings which consisted of 18, over 300 labs and more rooms with chemicals. I also performed OSHA, NFPA, SPCC, MDE safety inspections and compliance checks. I was in charge of training USUHS personnel with CHP, HAZCOM, and proper waste management to include Satellite Accumulation Areas, Proper Segregation of chemicals, and more. I ran the entire environmental program and assisted with CHP reviews, spill response, investigations of odors and other requests for assistance for environmental and safety related issues. Responsible for keeping USUHS EPA, MDE, NFPA and OSHA compliant and removing USUHS from the EPA’s radar as they received multiple fines from the EPA. I wrote SOP’s for Bio Box training and turn in’s (Medical and Biological Waste), SOP’s for proper hazardous waste storage, labeling, handling, and spill cleanup. I wrote SOP’s for proper training of EHS and USUHS personnel and had all personnel take the appropriate courses to meet OSHA, RCRA, DOT and EPA compliance. Teach and train staff on proper rules, regulations, compliance. Handle pharmaceutical disposal of DEA regulated drugs and medications, proper storage of them. Make sure compliance with the Clean Air Act, WSSC Regulations and All environmental regulations. Assisted staff with making sure they had Proper CHP, Spill response procedures, and also created a 16 point checklist that was approved by OSHA and the EPA that will ensure compliance.
