AUG 2021-TO JAN 2022-AGRICYCLE GLOBAL –KWALE COUNTY

Worked for Agricycle Global as a field officer, the company is a benefit corporation, focused on eliminating extreme rural poverty through a market based solution. It democratizes access to agricultural value chain for a growing network of over 40,000 smallholders, women and youth around the world. Through the use of appropriate technology, on job skills training and benefit programs.

MAY 2016 TO JUL 2021 -ANGLICAN DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (MT. KENYA CENTRAL)

Started as a project assistant under the supervision of a project officer as of May 2016 until Jan 2021.Thereafter I was promoted to project officer for the Murang’a Agricultural and Livelihood improvement project. This was a donor funded project whose main aim was to alleviate poverty among the women and youths. The project promoted conservation Agriculture and other components such as Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA), marketing, small animal rearing, kitchen garden, post-harvest management and water harvesting.

JAN TO DEC 2015 - ANGLICAN DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (MT KENYA SOUTH)

Worked with the Anglican Development Services as a technical project assistant. Here my task was training common interest groups on marketing and savings. I also got to participate in trainings that involved agriculture i.e. farming Gods way and kitchen gardening.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

Community Organizer

●Successfully recruited and on boarded 25 entrepreneurs as NAS (Fast credit) clients. Provided the 25 with access to capital to boost their businesses.

●Successfully mobilised and recruited 134 field representatives working as field agents in Kwale. Had 9 of them promoted to field liaisons for their active participation.

●Conducted food safety and quality standards to the 134 Field representatives.

●Mobilized 3,000 smallholder farmers who joined Agricycle’s network and became certified producers.

●Successfully mobilised 924 farmers in Ithanga, Murang’a County (98 M, 826 F) in a food security project.

●Formed 32 groups from the 924 farmers.

●Promoted from a project assistant to a project officer.

●Successfully conducted trainings on conservational agriculture and VSLA, with the community resource persons (champion farmers) and non-champion farmers. (I was the lead VSLA facilitator) .

●Conducted marketing trainings which the common interest groups took advantage of by engaging in income generating activities.

●Involved in the day to day follow up of activities that related to the project hence ensured that there was a circular flow of activities.

●Successfully helped the participants in the groups resolve their conflicts of interests and other interpersonal conflicts.

●Participated in formation of a Community Based Organisation whose aim was: providing Agricultural –food security services, sourcing for market for their produce, Economic Development, Environmental Conservation.

●Participated in data collection using the ODK data Kit during Mid Term, End of Year Evaluation of Murang’a Agricultural and Livelihood Project and daily Agricycle’s daily report.
