POSITION DUTIES:

I Served as Human Resource Assistant in the Army Soldier Records Branch/iPERMS.

Performs a wide variety of personnel, administrative and clerical tasks associated with

the requirements and procedures of the Interactive Personnel Electronic Records

Management System (iPERMS). Duties include processing Official Military Personnel

File (OMPF) for Active Army and Reserve Soldiers.

1. Performs intensive research of obsolete and occasionally obscure laws, precedents,

and other regulatory material and the requirement to make judgment calls when the

evidence is missing. Cases often involve weighing the evidence, considering the lack of

evidence, and rendering opinions on those cases which have already been through the

normal channels. Uses written directives, telephone, and personally reviews, interprets,

and applies applicable DOD directives, Army regulations, policies, laws, and precedent

cases. Verifies accuracy of information being cited and quoted in replies, regulations and

directives, and their application to specific inquiries with key personnel in order to obtain

a fully responsive and factual reply. Inquiries include urgent ones requiring immediate

action based on time sensitive future events. Must exercise tact, sound judgment, and

discretion. Advise and assist the customers as to the courses of action or options

available. 50%

2. Work cohesively with co-workers to process official military documents into Soldier

OMPF via iPERMS. Process batches in iPERMS; i.e., Indexing, Verifying, Quality

Control, and Problem Resolution. Scan documents by use of the Scanner and/or web

upload. Process board support inquiries/corrections in OMPF records such as: duplicate

document removal, misfiled documents, incorrect document name, effective dates, and

maskings. 25%

3. Analyzes written correspondence to determine action to be taken, the extent of

research required, and the source from which to obtain information and the facts to

provide a full comprehensive reply. Researches, analyzes, and composes replies to a

variety of complex inquiries pertaining to personnel support for the military service of

commissioned officers, warrant officers, and enlisted personnel who have served in the

Army or its Reserve Components. 10%

4. Performs administrative duties as required. Composes, types and/or uses a word

processor to produce in final format replies to written inquiries and correspondence.

Ensures correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arrangement of material. 10%

Responsible for analyzing and composing correspondence from Members of Congress, the Army Review Board Agency (ARBA), and other VIP pertaining to a variety of complex issues concerning the military service of warrant and commissioned officers, enlisted personnel, military retirees, discharged service members, and civilians and government agencies. Processes and responds to routine inquiries for a variety of military personnel actions to include verification of service, retirement points, separation documents, certificates, and records. Determines nature of inquiry, researches and applies the appropriate laws and procedures, as well as, the correct Army Regulations and procedures for WWII to the present conflicts. Consistently operates and accurately use software such as Integrated Work Station (IWS), Reserve Data Maintenance System (RDMS), Soldier Management System (SMS), Retirement Points Accounting System (RPAS), Total Army Personnel Data Base-Reserve (TAPDB-R), Transition Point Processing System (TRANSPROC), Automated Orders and Resource System (AORS), Beneficiary Identification Records Locator System (BIRLS), Recruiter Eligibility Data Display (REDD), and iPERMS to review, enter, modify, and correct data. Utilize RDMS to update Veterans information to include CURORG, rank, and personal information.

Prepare and issue DD Forms 214 and 215 utilizing TRANSPROC. Void previously issued DD Form 214 when appropriate.
