PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

WAVE TECH HUB – Venture Capital Manager Startups & Venture Capital Caracas, Venezuela June/2022 - August/2023

Mentored over 15 startups on how to be ready for launch, investment, and fundraising. Built close relations with startup founders helping them to develop new business units, focusing on potential markets, pricing, product delivery and decision-making while maintaining an investable profile for venture capitalists. Raised $1M for two mobility startups ($500k each) and $1M for a fintech startup. Secured $100k in debt from a government program involving meetings with the Vice-President of Venezuela, for five startups ($20k each) operating in the fintech, mobility, and aerospace sectors.

Developed a business network of over 300 international and domestic stakeholders to position the hub as a leading entity in the startup & venture capital (VC) ecosystem in Venezuela. Stakeholders included startup founders, angel investors, VCs, government officials, academics, corporates, and mentors. Today, the Wave Tech Hub is the top reference in Venezuela's Startup & VC ecosystem.

Managed and organized "The Circle: Startup & Venture Capital Summit 2022" (Link), the first event of its kind for the tech ecosystem in Venezuela. This helped establish the Wave Tech Hub as the leading player in Venezuela's startup & VC scene. Designed the event's storyline, agenda, and speaker presentations.

Sourced 45 speakers, both national and international, including founders of unicorn startups like Papa and Kavak, and general partners of VC funds for “The Circle” event. Featured 28 startups in the main showcase and raised $60k in sponsorships. Conducted interviews with over 20 startup founders, investors, and corporate directors for the event's podcast. Managed media relations with Bloomberg and Reuters for event coverage and speaker interviews. The event was attended by 2,000 people.

Moderated for the "Y-Combinator Table" talk at "The Circle" event, featuring three Venezuelan YC founders. The discussion focused on the process of preparing, applying, and becoming a Y Combinator startup. The talk was attended by over 400 people. It was also highlighted in YC’s official Instagram account.

Served as a startup mentor and panel member for the Development Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean’s Financial Inclusion program. Evaluated 20 Latin American startups, two of which advanced to the final round to compete for acceleration programs with Endeavor and Seedstars. The program required general mentorship on how to understand the VC funding market. VENECAPITAL – Research Coordinator Venture Capital & Private Equity Caracas, Venezuela March/2021 - May/2022

Marketed Venecapital (Venezuela Private Capital Association) memberships resulting in a 200%-member growth. Responsibilities included to create awareness around how could international VC funds, service providers, local banks, law firms, and corporations can foster the startup ecosystem growth in the country. Successfully marketed Venecapital memberships, establishing the association as a leading advocate for private capital investments in Venezuela.

Designed and delivered a comprehensive course on private capital, addressing fundamentals, diverse investment types such as private equity and venture capital, industry organization, and strategies for attracting investors. Created instructional materials, including guides and presentations, to educate members and their staff on best practices in the private equity and venture capital sectors.

Business analysis specialized in venture capital and private equity operations, creating 50 investment teasers for the company portfolio. Managed and sourced key accounts for 2 high-stakes negotiations: a $1B oil joint venture, and $200M service contract in Lake Maracaibo. Additionally, managed accounts of 2 business units of a pharmaceutical company valued at $100M.

Consulted for three companies on long-term strategic planning, employing the Balanced Scorecard methodology. Clients included a primary healthcare provider with annual revenues of $20 million, an agriculture producer generating $10 million, and an insurance company with a revenue stream of $50 million. Responsibilities encompassed client onboarding, Balanced Scorecard training, and guiding research and documentation, as well as strategic consultation.
