Medical Technologist – Night Shift

Hematology:

DXH combines slide maker and stainer. I performed differentials, shutdown and start up, troubleshooting the analyzer, checked all reagent in analyzer, QC, and daily and monthly maintenance. Check clots and fibrin strands. Resolved issue with specimens such as delta failure MCV, Cold Agglutinins and lipemic Specimens and I used celvistision to perform diff and report the result on remisol. I call all critical values. Also, I do Body fluids including CSF and manual diff as need it. sedimentation rates, DIC, Wet Prep, sickle cell test, and Manual Reticulocyte Account (Miller Disc). Check for interfering.

Coagulation:

I used ACL Top 750 to perform, testing PT, PTT, Fibrinogen, UFL, UFH and LMWH, LMWL for Anty- Xa, and D-dimer, PFA, Also, I do daily and weekly maintenance, QC, load, check stability and reconstitute reagents if indicated. I documented all critical value for INR, ptt, Anty- Xa

Urinalysis:

I used IRS and report results for patients and QC.

Chemistry:

I used AU5800 and AU680, Arichrech analyzer for immunology I use DXI 800, program qc set up new calibrator. Maintenance, lot to lot validation, program patient and manual dilution, and blood gases

07/25/16- 01/30/2017- Saint Peter Hospital – Albany NY Medical Technologist – Night Shift

Blood Bank:

Using Gel System and Pro VUE to perform XM and ABO. Using the automated system to release electronic crossmatch results. Spilt unit of blood for adult, and Issuing product as needed such as Packed Red Cells, Platelet, and RH Immune globulin, FFP, Cryoprecipitate, albumen, baby breath milk. Receiving, and ordering product from red cross, Thawing FFP, and Cryoprecipitate. Performed manual DAT, Cort Blood, direct Anti globulin for Adult using poly specific. Fetal Screen test, Antibody ID using full panel and selective cell panel using select cell panel. Identified warm antibodies, Cold antibodies using warm technique and rest method. Selective negative Antigen for specific antibody, Emergency release, and resolved transfusion reaction.

Hematology:

I Unicell DX H800 to run QC for CBCD, QC for body fluid daily check and start up, Calibration, shutdown. Run and troubleshooting all issue concern patient’s sample such as HH and lipemic specimens, and Cold Agglutinins. Manual differential fibrin strands, WBC estimate, platelet clumps or satellism, smudge cells, and manual reticulocyte account.

Coagulation:

I used Top ACL 300 for coagulation. Make up the control and the reagents, check the stability for control and the reagents. Run the three-level coagulation control including (normal control, abnormal high control, and normal and low fibrinogen control). Also, I do all for UFL, UFH, LMWL, LMWH for factor Xa Perform BNP and D- Dimer using triage analyzer. Receiving and cancelling, and ordering test, batch specimen to send out for reference lab using Misys and smart term Microbiology:

Processing blood culture such as print labels, label all tubes, inoculates, correct bottle, measure value and recorded, enter demographic data into BacT/Alert computer, loads bottle, unloads positive and negative bottles, prepare slide, and performs gram stain. Subculture appropriate media. Call the critical values.

Includes culture setups, gram stains, Gty probe test for Yeast, Gardnerella test for Trichomonas, Wet Prep, Strep A, blood culture set ups on BacT Alert 3D.

Hematology:

System XS-Series SP-1000i, I Performed CBC, manual differentials, estimate WBCS and platelets, check platelet aggregation to report accuracy results, manual reticulocyte account, ESR, and resolved all abnormal results such as Cold Agglutinins or lipemic specimens. Body Fluid including CSF and count manually WBC’S, and RBC are separately using hemocytometer, and performed Cytocentrifuge for manual diff.

Coagulation:

I used an advance analyzer as back up for coagulation. I prepared all reagents, troubleshooting the analyzer, and I resolved all abnormal results by checking the graph and the specimens if there is clotting. In addition, I called all critical results for PT and PTT, Anty- Xa, and Fibrinogen. In addition, I used Minivadis to test D-dimer.

Blood Bank:

Using Gel system and tube method for ABO Typing and discrepancies, Screen cell, and Cross match. Issuing and preparing all blood products including FFP, Cryoprecipitate, DAT, inventory, request product from red cross, Emergency release, transfusion reaction, perform QC, and Resulting and validation the patient’s result.

LIS:

Includes operation manager & HCLL (Blood Bank), Meditech, Sunquest, Mysis, Epic, and Cerner.
