CLINICAL COORDINATOR:

Primary responsibilities include:

• Oversee the departments overall clinical operations on a daily basis by providing supervision and leadership to nursing as well as to patient care technicians and unit secretaries.

• Provide direct management of patient flow including the admissions, continuity of care and discharge of patients.

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to unite and improve patient care and satisfaction.

Primary duties include:

• Planning and organizing daily assignments to nursing staff by providing suitable assignments and instructions to the staff nurses, as well as orientees and graduate nurses.

• Develop effective work methods to ensure excellent patient care as well as excellent employee satisfaction.

• First resource to nursing staff to provide instruction and guidance on clinical and other professional matters.

• Responsible for monthly scheduling of 25 nurses and assist in yearly evaluations of staff.

CLINIC NURSE AT N.J. STATE PRISON:

• Responsible for caring for acutely ill inmates and assisting doctors with physicals. Responsible for responding to any codes in the building, communicating significant findings with the on call doctor and updating inmates clinical computerized chart as needed.

• Administering oral medication and insulin as prescribed by the physician. ENDOSCOPY/SAME DAY SURGERY RECOVERY:

• Assist in colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, bronchoscopies, Tee’s, cardioversions, ERCP’s, EUS’s, and FNA’s. Responsible for admitting patients for Same Day surgery and endoscopy patients as well as recovering Same Day surgical and endoscopy patients.

• Maintain GI Laboratory’s endoscopic equipment and supplies as directed, to ensure proper use, functioning and infection control practice.

• Identify significant cardiac arrhythmias and articulate algorithms per ACLS and PALS protocol.

• Initiate peripheral venous access for IV fluids and medications. HOME CARE:

• Skilled Nursing care for patient with diagnosis of Nemaline Myopathy. Trach Care, Ventilator Management, G-Tube maintenance and feedings along with providing activities for daily living.

GENETICS:

• Specimen collection and processing for specialized genetic testing including neonates and infants for New Jersey Newborn Screening program.

• Patient and family education regarding specific patient care needs, disease information and safety issues.

• Responsible for Enzyme Replacement Therapy infusions for Lysosomal Storage Disease patients including appropriate assessments and documentation, IV insertion peripherally and via medi-port and pharmacovigilance for adverse reactions.

• Case management and registry compliance of Lysosomal Storage Disease patients. Intake and triage of general and metabolic genetic patients.

• Maintain professional and department competencies and certifications. Participates in clinical decision making within a multidisciplinary team.

INFUSION CENTER:

• Administers various infusions such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and IV antibiotics.

• Assess for possible infusion reactions.

• Educate patient and family members regarding medications and their short/long term side effects.
