Assistant Zoning Administrator, City of Parkersburg, Parkersburg, WV 4/2001-Present

Responsible for various administrative tasks, including but not limited to: Answer a multi-line phone, take/return messages, faxing, filing, incoming and outgoing mail, type memorandums, letters of violations, and other correspondence; complete requisitions, purchase office supplies.

Schedule meetings with developers and architects and several departments in the city building, as well as schedule appointments and make travel arrangements for 5 code officers. Travel arrangements through WebTA for Code Officers.

Attend meetings, take and transcribe minutes for several agencies including Board of Zoning Appeals, Downtown Central Business District and two Architectural Review Boards. Receive visitors and sit in on meetings for new developments.

Receive and review building permit requests; issue or deny based on a variety of specifications and guidelines. Schedule appointments and commitments for all personnel for the building permits.

Organize appointments and meetings for the Chief Fire Inspector and the Code Director to review requests for Certificates of Occupancy, and create and issue the certificates.

Create new files for additions, new dwellings, new commercial structures, etc. Prepare violation letters. Create electronic files from original files.

Make court appearances and testify in minimum housing disputes and contractor issues. Gathering data for court.

Assisted with the preparation of Code Department budgets. Coordinate all office meetings between General Contractors, Engineers, Demolition Contractors, etc. and various City departments.

Assist in the collection of overdue fees to the City and made deposits for Code, Zoning, Engineering, and Business Licenses.

Created a billing system for Grass and Weeds as well as securing vacant structures. Maintaining and updating over 300 structures in each file.

Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Works and Access.

Administrative Assistant, Office Max, Parkersburg, WV 12/1997-11/2002

Solely responsible for all in-store administrative tasks, arranged all travel for management trainees, and served as an assistant to four store managers.

Created and maintained all personnel files, did background checks, wrote all personnel action forms, created personnel performance forms and submitted proper documentation to corporate for all raises, promotions, demotions, bonuses, etc.
