Network Security Officer

I was a member of the Network Security Team maintaining the information assurance of DOD systems nationwide. Responsible for authoring security policy, and procedures, performing system scans, and reacting to intrusion attempts.
Through CSD, I provided onsite supervision of a crew of 8 network engineers providing network maintenance, and configuration to the Defense Information Services Agency (part of the DOD), at Tinker Field, AFB. When I started my area of responsibility was in the production network

Oversaw the Information Technology group including all operational procedures, security, and task scheduling for the Systems Administration, and LAN/WAN departments. ATCIS was an eBusiness partner of AT&T Wireless services that warehouses, ships, provides activation, and accounting for AT&T’s cell phone business. Acted as the Liaison between the Oklahoma City office, and the technical facilities of the various business units around the country. Responsible for the forecasting, implementation, and tracking of a $5 Million operational budget.
Selected Accomplishments:
Directed the consolidation of 3 different email systems, with over 1000 users, into one without any outages, the network upgrade from Novell to NT/2000, and instituted a comprehensive Change Control Policy.
Coordinated the installation of the Syteline Accounting package, Symix ERP/EDI (warehouse management systems), the Hyperion Financial consolidation system, and developed a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan.
Directed the implementation of a new pricing structure for the communications network that saved the company over $1,000,000 a year, and identified over $500,000 in erroneous billing.
The departments under my responsibility were charged with maintaining the hardware platforms of Hewlett Packard, IBM (AS400), Compaq, Dell, Cisco, and Nortel. We managed a primary WAN consisting of 81 US sites, 8 Canadian, and 1 Mexican via Frame Relay, and point-to-point as well as VPN, VAN, and ANX connections.
Hired, managed, motivated 12 technical employees. Successfully acquired and led the staff to becoming a cohesive team that worked well together and took ownership and pride in their projects.
