Dissertation research focused on Resolving Due Process Complaints: A Comparative Analysis of the Relationship between Teacher and Parent Perspectives Regarding the Efficacy of an Individual Education Plan’s (IEP’s) Design, Implementation, and Evaluation. The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) through the lenses of teachers and parents in order to inspire a reduction in due process complaints within the Florida school district. The IEP is generated in the public education system. Each plan is created by a staff of school personnel including the parent(s), and provides a blueprint of objectives and goals to meet the academic need of students with disabilities/special needs. My research encompassed quantitative methods to identify the perspectives of teachers and parents in a West Florida school district. The data collected was used to devise themes of reference to identify commonalities within teacher and parental perspectives, assess the effectiveness of the IEP process, and suggest possible system reform within the IEP process and procedures. Strategies were proposed to enhance delivery of specialized education to students with special needs. Community Outreach/Professional Organizations
