NAESB 3.0/FERC 809 Gas day modification

As per the new rules, introduced by NAESB and FERC (NAESB 3.0 and FERC 809), I helped TransCanada introduce and implement new rules to their in-house software(CNSS and CA), website, reports, and database, designed specific for two of their clients (Northern Border Pipeline and Bison Pipeline). I helped TransCanada by modifying some specific parts of the software, including Enter Nominations, Nominations Download, Nominations Details, Batch Reports, Nomination Reconciliation Report and Cycle Close. I also helped modifying their Oracle Reports and Powerbuilder Reports, stored procedures and functions in database.

I used Powerbuilder 12.6, including data-windows, as frontend and reports generation, Oracle Reports and Oracle 10g as backend for the in-house software. I also used Visual Studio 2008 (ASP.NET) and SCADA (PLC), connected through secure ODBC connection, to pull volume and points information been released or delivered from one RTU to another and displayed the information on info-posting website view by the clients'.

I joined Lloyd's Register as a software developer to help Lloyd's to modify/repair and fine-tune queries in MS Access based tool that LR uses to transfer client's data that they receive in MS Excel workbook from the client. MS Access is linked to clients' database through ODBC and run some data validation queries and finally exported to client's (Oracle/SQL Server) production database. I helped Lloyd's Register design and develop a custom inspection report (which is a government document) for one of their clients using SSRS (Report Builder 2.0/3.0) against client's SQL Server database. I created a Stored Procedure, and number of Views that were called by the Stored Procedure called by the Report passing required parameters. I also helped Lloyd's deploy the report to the Report Server.

I also created a tool for Lloyd's Register using MS Excel (VBA for Excel) to pull specific data from an existing Oracle database of a new client and dumped the data in the required format in various MS Excel worksheets categorized per requirement.

I created another tool for Lloyds using VB.NET which helps Lloyd's connect to any Oracle database they need to, scan database for tables that have BLOB column/s. and extract all the contents of BLOB columns, zip all the extracted files and store the zipped file to the specified path by the user. Spectra Energy lays, controls and maintains Oil and Gas pipeline from Gulf of Mexico to East Canada and East Canada to West Canada. I am part of team of 25 programmer and developers creating and maintaining system software to control and maintain the entire Oil and Gas pipeline. I designed the graphical interface for number of Meters and RTUs for a part of the pipeline (AGT) and the entire pipeline

(MN&P) using a third party proprietary software for Oil and Gas pipelines called Cygnet. The entire pipeline data communication is transferred from point "A" to Point "B" using SCADA. I was also responsible to code and maintain real-time reports pulling information from SCADA system, connecting using the ODBC through Cygnet in Excel using VBA for Excel and getting information not only to Excel but also storing information in Access. I created and coded for the tools to download and upload (Meters and RTUs) points to and from the monitoring center to Meter and vise-versa, using VB.Net and C#.NET. I also enhanced the functionalities for the existing tools, systems and reports for better and faster execution. I also maintained issue database and re-routed issues to the responsible teams (Database, Graphics, etc.) to be taken care of while testing the screens online.

One of the official websites of Shell calculates and displays prices and quotes of all the petroleum products that Shell, has to offer. This website allows and helps the Risk Managers to give customers prices and quotes depending on current prices from NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) and maintain the related tables in the Database. The web site uses classic ASP as the front-end and Oracle 9i as the back- end. Shell is shutting down this website, but, there are some tools that Shells Risk Managers still use. I am designing, developing and coding a client-server application, replicating the tools and functionalities of the website that the Risk Managers require. I used Visual Basic 6 as the front-end and an existing Oracle Database as the back-end. This new application will be used by all the Risk Managers as and when Shell decommissions the website. This application saves entire screen data figures in three different places, in an Excel file, in Oracle database, SQL Server 2003 and a local MS Access database. I created and updated all the Stored Procedures in SQL Server and Oracle databases to incorporate enhancement in the application. I used VBA for Excel to transfer data from the application to Excel spreadsheet. I also learnt and code with WDDX and WDDX related functions, methods variables and constants, to connect this client-server application to NYMEX server to pull the real-time product prices. AIMS is an in-house, accounting application (compare to MS Great Plains) developed for Counterforce USA, alarm, security and surveillance company, which uses Visual Basic 6 w/VBA as front-end, SQL Server 2005 (Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer) as back-end and Crystal Reports 8.5 and 11 as the reporting tool. The forms in AIMS have ASP pages w/VBA for Outlook and Outlook Express, embedded in the web browser object. This application is used by departments such as Dealer Relations, Contract Processing, Acquisitions, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Collections, Billing and Accounting. Each department have there own set of menus leading to their GUI which have ASP pages embedded. AIMS has credit card processing and internal messaging system as well. I am mainly responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting their everyday troubles and bugs. I have worked and fixed one of the major programming issues with their credit card processing which was going on for some time. I have also worked on their web site as well which uses classic ASP w/VBA for Outlook and Outlook Express as front-end and SQL Server 2005 (Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer) as back-end and modified some of the Stored Procedures. I created number of Financial and Business analytic reports from scratch using T-SQL commands and Crystal Reports 11 and scheduled the reports to be generated automatically in Business Objects 11. I also worked on their web site (www.Counterforceusa.com) and added new features, as per request of the GM and graphics giving the web site a more dynamic and attractive look. I used classic ASP for modification on the pages, which depending on existence of the data in the database

(SQL Server), displayed the data or presented a text box for the user to enter the data. I used Fireworks for the graphic and animation designing.

Global Reporting System-Rig / Online (GRS-Rig/GRS-Online) Global Reporting System is an application used to report daily reports from the Oil Rigs to the Headquarter

(OnLine) and vise-versa. GRS is dual side application, which functions on Rig side and OnLine side. I was mostly working on the Rig side which uses VB6 w/VBA for Outlook Express as front-end and Access XP as a back-end and uses Remote Data Objects (RDOs) using ODBC to connect front-end with the back-end and conducting Manual testing the new code. I was mainly responsible for handling import and export of the data from Oil Rigs to Headquarter (OnLine) and back and also conducting Manual tests. Transocean is releasing new version of the software with new functionalities and some bug fixes. I was also responsible for coding of a new functionality of importing and exporting of data of an oil well from Rig to OnLine and back and other new functionalities. I also designed, developed and coded number of log forms which displays information about imported and exported files and lists of files and also keep track of each file in transaction. I also worked on their OnLine side which partly used Java as front-end and Oracle 8i and/ or Oracle 9i as back-end, and just like Rig side application, OnLine side also uses VB.NET and ASP.NET with ADO.NET and ODBC for data connectivity. I was also responsible for coding of new (Dynamic Link Libraries) DLLs and Classes used in importing the files received from Rig to OnLine and store all data and information in the Oracle database. I used Crystal Reports 10 and CDO sets to design, re-design and print all the data reports.
