THERAPEUTIC SECURITY TECHNICIAN & COOK SUPERVISOR, CORRECT CARE SOLUTIONS (WELLPATH) ARCADIA, FL – 2006 - PRESENT

Provides professional support and security to state-contracted vendor responsible for the secure housing of over 600 residents. Works together as a team with other staff at this secure long-term housing and treatment facility that houses individuals deemed sexually violent predators by the court. In the main facility, responsibilities include the care, custody, and control of these individuals. Oversight of their movements, conducting multiple security walks and checks each hour, conducting formal facility “counts”, and recording of resident movement and events in a ledger. Often assigned to a specific housing area directly responsible for up to around 60 residents at any one time. Also uses a security radio to communicate to the control room, and to respond to facility threats and “codes” when called. At time located in the food service department and monitors between 20 and 30 resident workers. Responsible for supervision, inventory, monitoring, and oversight of all tools/equipment in the department. Also ensuring temperature and other environmental conditions for food safety are maintained. Provides supervision in all areas of the department: dish room, store room, warehouse, freezers and refrigerators, etc. Responsible for disbursement of accurate inventory to prepare the daily meals and to prevent theft. Also ensures accurate completion of all necessary paperwork at the end of shift.

UNIT COORDINATOR, DESOTO MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

ARCADIA, FL – AUGUST 2004 - AUGUST 2006

Provided first point-of-contact for all visitors to the Medical/Surgical Unit located on the 3rd floor. Greeted all staff and guests and answered questions and gave directions. Provided accurate support services to Physician’s daily by extracting the morning Physician’s Kardex (a desktop filing system with an overview of each patient) and Graphics off the computer system, and filed them in the patients’ charts for the Doctors to see. Retrieved all printed test and lab results and attached them to the appropriate charts. Transcribed Doctors’ orders onto the MAR (Medical Administrative Record) for the follow-up by the Charge Nurse. Also ordered lab tests requested by doctors, and scheduled outpatient appointments and tests. Inventoried and ordered unit supplies to ensure properly stocked at all times. Oversaw the admittance and discharge of patients to and from the unit. Handled inbound telephone calls and took messages for the appropriate personnel. Retrieved Telemetry Reports from the ICU every 4 hours and report patients who are off telemetry due to being off the floor for activities such as a procedure or bath. Preparation of paperwork for signing for patients having a surgery/procedure, blood transfusion, or other types of procedures. Maintain the floor’s board with accurate information including patient count, patient movements, bed availability, and so forth. Also communicated daily with the 2nd shift Unit Coordinator on what went on, or is still underway, on the floor during my shift.
