I was the owner of Nello’s Artisan Breads. A small “destination” bakery down in Southport,
KwaZulu-Natal’s Hibiscus Coast. A small family run business, where we are impacting and
educating our small community about breads and creating a new look at bread… sourdough breads.
We service lots of retired people and then visitor’s in-season. Within 2 years of full operation,
Nello’s has grown from strength to strength an expanded to offering coffee and oven baked pizza’s.
The experience gained throughout my profession is now harvesting as I improve and increase our
bakery menu. With God at the wheel, our little bakery has heart and a soul… where customers are
family and leave with warm memory of their experience!

On a personal note:
I had taken up an opportunity work in Sudan and enhance my baking skills by learning about
traditional breads and overseeing their baking plant. In order to grow within myself as well, I took
up a challenge to learn in an environment that was weather demanding, culturally different and
working with more traditional methods.
I absolutely love my experience in Sudan and took the demands by the horns, feeling victorious
over that knowledge I gained and value I added to the bakery plant and DAL Group.
I have trained staff and overcome the language barriers and respected and embraced the
Sudanese people.
I have successfully implemented new systems like lean production systems, QMS, helped develop
a SAP system for the Commercial Bakery, was involved in product development & launches in the
market for a local products called Kisra, Rugag as well as 3 flavors of bar cakes.
My time spent in Sudan is priceless.
