Summary: The Chief Hyperbaric PA duties and responsibilities for the Physician Assistants within the Hyperbaric Medical unit are as follows: Clinical integrity, Adherence to Clinical protocols, Compilation and Organization of all patient care data, Quality Assurance and PA staffing. Data was collected and inputted into a wound healing database (PictZar) and discussed with clinical leadership on a regular basis to track progression of wound healing. Data was collated and presented at CME - accredited weekly wound healing surgical outcomes conference, which the chief PA took charge of ensuring proper document submission to Winthrop CME, recruitment of potential speakers at the direction of the Division chief, and general operation of the weekly conference. In addition to QA data, my tasks included being responsible for the photography and the input of those into the wound measurement software PictZar as well as responsible for adherence to Joint Commission standards within the unit. As the Chief Hyperbaric and Regenerative Medicine PA - stayed in contact with all physicians participating in any hyperbaric patient's care, including primary care physicians in both the hospital and community, to ensure continuity and awareness across each patient's healthcare continuum.

Hyperbaric Clinical Staffing:

Creates monthly staffing schedule for PAs

Find coverage for PAs taking PTO

Manages PTO requests for hyperbaric PAs and Nurse Practitioners before submitting them to administration for final approval.

Responsible for clinical quality assurance in HBO Unit:

Ensures wound assessments, dressing changes, minor debridements and all procedures performed in the HBO Unit in conjunction with the hyperbaric dive are within the scope of practice for the unit and of the highest level of medical integrity

Contact with all physicians across patient's healthcare continuum:

Communicates with all physicians taking part in a patient's care plan including community and hospital-based primary care physicians, home care, consulting physicians and specialty physicians

Follows up all phone calls with an email for proper documentation

Coordinates patient's wound healing plan in conjunction with all physicians

Data Collection and Reporting:

Collects and collates patient data including wound type, size, location and progression

Inputs all data onto wound healing database via Microsoft Access and/or Excel
