Callaway Golf Company Carlsbad, CA 2006-2012

Category Manager MRO & Facilities (2009 – 2012)

Develop and implement category strategy for $50M+ in spend for Callaway’s MRO & Facilities in North America.

Managed supplier sourcing and contract negotiations for three facilities in the U.S., and one each in Canada and Mexico.

Negotiated a $2M North American contract with 3M/RS Hughes to secure all 3M products, set pricing across a large product line and raw material array. Negotiated for the corporation, including the 5 North American campus’s, the resulting model made Callaway Golf only one of six companies in the U.S. with such an agreement.

Selected to be part of a team to lead the material sourcing activities for a new manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico. This was a secretive team that was formed for this strategic company iniative that was completed without our competitors finding out. This helped us maintain our #1 position in the golf industry, I was given an award and merit bonus for my work.

Developed and implemented sourcing strategy for facilities group, along with directs that utilized rate sheets and multi-vendor bidding to drive spend consolidation and leverage buying power across Callaway’s extended campus.

Led multiple vendor RFQ’s with internal stakeholders to maximize efficiencies, service, and cost benefits. Contracts totaled $5.8M, spanned multiple buildings/facilities and included corrugate, landscaping, security, office supplies, mail and print services, hazardous waste, and janitorial services.

Assembled and led cross functional team for the sourcing, vetting process, negotiations of a custom semi-tractor trailer for the PGA Tour. This custom tractor trailer went to all the PGA events and provided club building and a meeting place for Callaway executives and professional golfers. The team consisted of members from Marketing, Finance, Maintenance, and the PGA Tour group.

Established benchmarks for Asia subcontractor pricing and quotes resulting in a $500K savings in 2009, implementation served as a process model. This project consisted of direct help, supply chain co-workers and Project Management staff.

Provided pivotal leadership role to directs to ensure the development of a reached their $1M cost savings goal through synergizing buying power, benchmarking costs and re-negotiating with current Asia subcontractors and qualifying larger group of subcontractors to increase competition while retaining strict quality/engineering requirements.

Managed Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) program that allowed approved vendor’s, facility access to monitor and replenish inventory (some consignment) to pre-established thresholds; vendors managed all stocking and provided monthly billing summaries. Program delayed product payment until usage, improved company cash flow, resulted in $250K+ savings and was successfully replicated in multiple Callaway production facilities.

Senior Buyer MRO & Facilities (2006 – 2009)

Responsible for material purchases of $20M of indirect materials and services used in the manufacturing of golf clubs. Directed Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) program, configured program to monitor replenishment parameters, and analyzed consumption trends to modify levels and composition of critical inventory and consumables.

Led sourcing activities and internal stakeholders through formal RFQ process (supplier selection, negotiations, and contracts) for multiple cross functional stakeholder teams to secure commodities, MRO items and services for new manufacturing/distribution facilities throughout North America.

Worked with facility department in Brampton, Ontario, for Canadian golf club manufacturing and negotiation for new third- party distribution center and services.

Responsible for directing annual cost saving goal of $500K. Reported quarterly progress to executive management.
