Resume:

Senior MS Access Excel VBA SQL Developer

Kim Khan 917-***-**** ad05nw@r.postjobfree.com

Hello Prospective Employer,

As a Senior MS Access Excel VBA SQL Developer I can provide your organization with expert business solutions by creating custom applications and automating reporting requirements. Utilizing current industry standard best practices of database design principles, data modeling, normalization and VBA programming.

Your organization can benefit from my experience in developing database applications from design phase to deployment including on-going administrative tasks and development projects.

My expertise: new

- Utilize Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methods to design, develop, test and deploy custom MS Access applications that integrate with other Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Powerpoint, Word & Outlook) and data sources.

- Knowledge of data integration techniques to move data between different systems and formats, such as importing/exporting data between linked Access databases, Excel and back-end databases: SQL Server, Vertica and MySQL.

- Good communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, understand their requirements, and explain the benefits and design using pseudocode, and the results of automation.

- Proficiency in designing and developing complex dynamic queries in MS Access. Strong understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) for database querying and manipulation. Light knowledge of SQL databases like Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and SQL Developer for Oracle.

- Awareness of security best practices when dealing with sensitive data in databases or spreadsheets.

- Reverse engineering of existing MS Access applications and Excel tools.

- Utilizing Excel VBA to create custom functions, formulas, pivot tables and charts. Using data manipulation methods to transform and validate data sets and perform calculations for reporting purposes.

- Designing and developing forms, subforms, reports and subreports and navigation menus.

- Use critical thinking to analyze processes and data flows critically, identifying areas for optimization and automation.

- The ability to solve problems, identify opportunities for automation, design solutions, and troubleshoot issues that may arise during the automation process.

- Keeping thorough documentation of user manuals, data dictionaries, scripts, processes, and automation workflows for future reference and knowledge sharing.

- Willingness to learn new business processes and technologies.

While at Bank of Mellon I worked with a Team Lead and another MS Access VBA Developer to design, develop and deploy a custom MS Access application that integrated with Excel. We used the Business Requirements Document (BRD) as a guideline for development and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methods. Gathered requirements from the stakeholders and end users. Designed and developed tables, sql statements, forms, subforms, reports, subreports, menus, code to secure the database and a custom permissions system. Integration with Excel included exporting data from Access into Excel to perform calculations using formulas and functions for reporting purposes.

The purpose of development was to support the transition of existing InterBank Offered Rates (IBOR) products and services to Alternative Reference Rates (ARRs).

The application was secured by creating a custom login and permissions system. Usernames were validated through Window OS. Users were assigned to permission groups. Based on the group specific menu systems would be made available. This would restrict access based on the group’s permissions.

Developed a multi-form and subform system that would be used to retrieve data based on user input. The search started with the top of form containing multiple type of objects to gather user inputs including checkboxes, listboxes, textboxes for date ranges. Deeper dives into the data could be navigated by clicking on hyperlinks in the results from the search. That would display a subform with more specific information. Utilized complex dynamic SQL statements with criteria from the user to populate the forms and subforms.

Developed complex code for a user input form that displayed 3 textboxes for input purposes initially. Created code to allow the user to add up to 20 textboxes dynamically for inputting data as needed. Validated the data and stored it in a comma-delimited field. The data from this field was used to populate a subreport section of the main report. The subreport would size and format a table based on the number of data elements from the comma-delimited field.

While at Fitch to transform data in large datasets I created a Python script to find and replace data values based on strict criteria. The Python script ensured accuracy and reduced the workload.

Received recognition during the Standard & Poors project for solving a problem with a complex Excel tool. I used Excel VBA functions to quickly search for specific items in a list that contained approximately 10,000 items.

These are a few examples from my work experience. I am looking forward to contributing my high-level of expertise to assist in your organization becoming more efficient and successful.

Sincerely,

Kim Khan Senior MS Access Excel VBA SQL Developer ad05nw@r.postjobfree.com 917-***-****
