WORK EXPERIENCE

Project Manager / Senior Designer*

Interactive Design Group Architecture* and Grimm + Parker Architects* 04/2022 - 09/2023, Charlottesville, Virginia

First with IDG but was relevant with Grimm+Parker as well, Jason performed production of various project types and at various levels of completion to meet aggressive deadlines due to staffing needs. Supported the Project Manager's on understaffed projects by self-performing or assisting the team on development drawing sets for Pricing, Permit and Funding submissions., Design Development pricing set and Construction Documents / Permit Submission level. Performed QA/QC reviews on sets at Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Document phases. Then worked with the PMs on strategies for completion based on staffing needs on various multi-family projects. Project to convert 5 historic (touching) buildings into mixed-use project that connected the upper floors for residential use. Project ultimately came in on time and under budget after active participation and leadership pulled in for assistance.

*Note : *I put these together as the represent my professional work since moving back to Virginia since leaving for Oregon in 2001. These positions were known to be potential temporary basis due to workload and uncertainty due to my experience and role needed, which I was production based. Jason happily took these positions on to build back production skills in Revit as he spent the past 10 years in a PM role using the software for those roles expectations due to billing rates.

01/2019 - 01/2022, Nashville, Tennessee

Rockledge Flats, Rockledge, FL (completed 2021) and Rogers Multi-family, Rogers, AR (set to complete 2023): Rockledge Flats was the first of (2) projects with one of Jason's clients from prior office which became the central work for the entire Nashville office of OHM. This was the first multi-family projects down with client at his new company as well Hutton! Took great strides to learn from Hutton and the contractor on Rockledge and bring lesson learned very successfully into the Rogers, AR multi-family project. Working directly with Hutton's entire management team, from Concept Design to avoid any pricing misses. Actively met with jurisdictional representatives in Rogers, AR on items from Zoning to exterior materials during Schematic Design to again help expedite the submittal approval from the City. Successfully led team of (8) in the Nashville office through drawing set development from Schematic Design through Permit Set and ultimately Pricing exercises in coordination with owner and contractor. This process created very little VE based on lessons learned from the previous project.

SUCCESS STORY

Project: Cummins Station - Architect: Smith Gee Studio - Location: Nashville, TN (01/2011 - 08/2018) Upon becoming the owner of the Cummins Station and Baggage Building, DZL Management sought to transform the 100+ year old structures into the most unique office community in downtown Nashville. As project manager, Jason was the lead architect for all ongoing building renovation projects and have successfully worked with the client to transform the properties into one of downtowns most sought-after office locations. Occupancy has increased to nearly 97% and average rent rates continue to climb in an increasingly competitive office space market. New modern entry lobbies, corridor renovations, restrooms, elevators, art studios and gallery, and a rare urban Community Garden, recognized by AIA Middle Tennessee, AIA Tennessee (state) and the American Society of Landscape Architects, have completely converted Cummins Station’s image, attracting some of Nashville’s most entrepreneurial companies. Eye-catching exterior tenant signage, modern interior wayfinding, and a proposed 10th Avenue streetscape continue to improve the tenant and visitor experience at Cummins Station.
