I am a team leader in the Quality Engineering field. I have worked in the Quality Management/Engineering field for the last 4 years. I have gained a lot of experience in this field & I have a vast knowledge of the different standards, including ASME 1 to ASME 9, AWS D1.1 to AWS D 1.7, ISO 3834, ISO 9001, NBIC PART 1 – 3, SANS etc. I am passionate about quality and proud of the ability to create perfect products, which are according to the code or clients specifications.

Career Highlights

Started my career as a junior QC/QA Inspector at Chrysos Engineering, while completing my studies, I pride myself to have worked my way up from the bottom. From junior Inspector to QC/QA Inspector to Senior quality/welding inspector all the way to Welding Quality Manager.

I am also the Responsible welding coordinator (RWC), as I have implemented ISO 3834 welding management system in conjunction with AWS codes. It was my task to troubleshoot all welding operations which included resolution of cracking, porosity, weldability.

I manage the Production, Planning & Operations for both the welding & finishing Departments, including sandblasting & the daily production & planning to assure that we are operating at a high efficiency, based on the 5s; 1) Defining Value, 2) Mapping the Value Stream, 3) Creating Flow, 4) Using a Pull System, and 5) Pursuing Perfection. To ensure that all required work is done correctly and meets due dates & procedures for the company. I also manage the Inspection and welding operators on critical welding operations and identified, designed, procured, and implemented all welding equipment and/or fixture needs.

• Assist on Canopy discrepancies at welding, finishing, PC & final assembly to get the product done on time and correctly.

• Assist QC on uncertainty of conformance on canopies being quality checked.

• Ensure that steel line, keeps up with production requirements according to due date & that it is done correctly within the time frame required.

Tools & Machinery

• Arrange & coordinate any repairs, warranty claims or new acquisitions of tools & machinery. Welding torches, grinders, orbitals are replaced asap before causing the line to stand.

1. Conceptual Phase:

Dealing with Clients, draftsmen and engineers, to discuss the processes needed to start the project. For example, which code will be used for designing the vessel and motivating to the client as to why this would be better, as well as safety procedures on the storage of the materials, etc. 2. Building Phase:

I would finalize, which codes (ASME, SANS, etc.), specs, processes, material will be used, in a meeting with the client, draftsman and engineers. Also any alterations that need to be done on the drawings to conform to the code if needed. Safety requirements are also finalized, as well as the economical aspect that the project is within the client’s budget, as their requirements must be considered.

3. Quality Management Phase: Ensure that all the required material & material certified are there, welders that need to be recertified have been recertified. PQR, WPS, & QCP are in order and that all safety requirements have been met before work commences.

• Responsible for compiling QCP’s Quality Control plans per project types

• Responsible for day to day running of project from the Quality assurance / Quality control side & ensuring that the projects is not held up for any minor incident.
