Dear Hiring Manager,

I am responding to your internet advertisement for your position opening for an Administrative Specialist. I have a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My employment history includes Office Management and Case Management for over 7 years in a corporate environment. I have 2 years of experience in Project Management with a non-profit organization as their Program Administrator where we assisted challenged and diverse populations. I have over 10 years of experience in the arts and over 14 years of experience in customer service and hospitality as well. I have a very unique background and consider myself to have many talents.

I would like to tell you about my experience in the human services field as a Program Administrator for Turnabout, Inc., which is a small non-profit organization dedicated to Prisoner Re-Entry into society. I worked directly with this population in gaining resources for them through several different government agencies and other organizations throughout the community. This included finding employment, education, housing, clothing, and even food. I case managed our clients, facilitated classes on community resources, wrote resumes, and recruited and managed volunteers. I secured and managed both monetary and in-kind donations. I also prepared for and organized and managed all of our events, meetings and obligations. I have grant and contract management experience as I researched, inquired about, wrote and edited grants for submission. Once the grants were awarded, I was responsible for maintaining the parameters of the grant and following its execution precisely. I maintained all the records through a main database and reported them back to the organization. My best accomplishment with Turnabout, Inc., was that we were granted enough money to exist for 2 years through the Office of Economic Development-Division of Workforce Development in 2005. Through my efforts we were also granted over $650k through the Denver Metro Prisoner Re-Entry Initiative in 2006 where we collaborated with 6 other non-profit groups. I use this example to show my successes being a team player and the achievements I brought to my employer.
