Major Responsibilities

• Inspect and collect samples from necessary establishments and imports to ensure that public health standards are maintained according to the regulations.

• Advise and educate on environmental health issues to ensure compliance with health regulations and safety of others.

• Enforce Public Health and any other relevant laws and regulations.

• Investigate, advise and take actions on the control of rodents and insects in and around the airport in order to reduce or prevent the spread of vector borne/ communicable diseases.

• Investigate disease outbreaks among travelers and apply the required surveillance or quarantine measures in order to reduce the spread of disease.

• Compile reports as required and assist with the evaluation of the environmental impact assessments of existing and proposed development projects around the port of entry zone to ensure in order to successful monitor the environmental health activities in the territory.

• Participate in legal proceeding in cases which involve offenses of public health regulations.

• Monitor and supervise the collection and disposal of sewage and solid waste at the port to ensure that it is disposed of correctly.

• Inspect and clear conveyances in accordance with IHR 2005.

• Perform any other related duties as required by the supervisor or any other senior officer in order to contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.

• Taking part in Disease Surveillance by screening of passengers of Ebola and Corona virus.

• Participate in legal proceeding in cases which involve offenses of public health regulations.

• In 2019 I carried out data research on behalf of Kenyatta National Hospital about

“ CONSUMPTION OF TOBACO AND ITS HEALTH EFFECT “ amongst international travelers and the sole reason they do so.

20th September,2017 - 27th February 2018 - Public Health Officer Volunteer with the Kenya Red Cross, WASH Project, Embakasi, Nairobi county.

15th May,2017 - 2nd September, 2017 - Student on attachment at Homabay County Referral hospital, and carried out the following:

• Designing and leading quality improvement to maternal child health.

• Carried out research on the frequent prevalence of cholera in the low income settlement areas in the slums within the county, causative agents and preventive measures.

• Promotion of preventive care and family planning through various communication media and events.
