Summary
Dan is an experienced IT professional with an extensive background in Data Architecture. Before moving into higher education at Temple University, Dan had a 25+ year career as a Data Architect in industry at companies including Siemens, AT&T, Bristol Myers Squibb, Unisys, Crayola, PPL Electric, Dun & Bradstreet, Ellucian, Accenture and Vanguard.
Typically, the first Data Architect in an organization, Dan advocates for the use of data governance and analytics. He puts into place processes and standards for improving quality and ensuring one version of the truth for enterprise data within the organization. And he leads the use of new data warehousing and business intelligence technologies to provide valuable insight into the organization’s data. He acts as a liaison to user departments for consistent and accurate data integration to formulate actionable metrics. Over the past 5+ years, Dan has been designing dashboards, visualizations and infographics using Tableau and Adobe Illustrator at Temple University. He co-leads the Temple Tableau User Group on the Tableau Community Forum. The group now has about 60 members from staff and administrative areas. He splits his time between working with users to model any new data brought into Temple’s data warehouse and publishing Tableau data sources for Tableau creators, as well as helping them with learning Tableau.
