The Data Center Lab environment provides server racks in the data center for not only testing applications but for developing and engineering new product lines with the continuous evolving hardware development. I provide hardware support which not only involves standard break fix, but using the tools developed by the hardware vendors working directly with the customer that are used from the Linux command line in troubleshooting a wide array of errors posted by the individual component shelves of the hosts installed in the racks. I am also responsible for assisting the teams that work with the production servers when needed. My day-to-day responsibilities consist of hardware break fix, customer support utilizing the customers own in-house developed system for the creation and tracking of tickets that are generated by host errors including other issues hindering the performance of host components. There is an SLA tied to each ticket generated which our team is expected to escalate priority based on the age of each ticket generated, other duties include ad-hoc testing of components by working with lab team members to create errors by each component for developing ticketing processes for the implementation of new systems in the data center.

Data Center Hardware Technician II

5/2018 – 10/2022 Acxiom Conway, AR

I provided highly visible customer support through providing onsite installation of server hardware equipment as well as providing upgrades and repairs in the Conway, Arkansas data center. The primary tool for monitoring the quality of systems was the ServiceNow web based application where tickets were created by systems administrators or by the Zenos system, and I would respond to the tickets by prioritizing the levels presented. I also acted as a liaison with the customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects or restoration of systems. My other responsibilities included engaging with architects, clients, and other data center personnel as need for planning systems installation or repair which included but not limited to server hardware, tape and disk storage, networking, and some systems administration of Linux servers including user account unlocks, password changes, and storage increase from clearing log files.

My responsibilities included desktop and laptop support for end users, hardware installation, server maintenance on Dell and Cisco servers, Cisco switch configuration, and Xerox copier / printer configuration. My responsibilities regarding local servers at Arkansas Nuclear One included documenting server hardware configuration, physically installing servers in server racks including cable management, and scheduling server maintenance with plant personnel. I was also responsible for maintaining the help desk by monitoring incoming requests in Service now, responding to them by contacting the end user, providing remote support as well as going to the end user’s desk and helping them resolve desktop application issues. As the local Systems Administrator for the Pine Bluff service center my duties included maintaining the integrity of our file system including disaster recovery, and file restoration from routine backups that were scheduled to run daily. I also assisted end users in transitioning from Windows XP to Windows 7 then from Windows 7 to Windows 10 by migrating their profile data and setting up new or existing peripherals and providing end user support locally and remotely.

My responsibilities included monitoring network systems to provide maximum utilization of resources, assisting in resolving problems in printer repair, networking systems, assisting evaluating new hardware products, training users on application usage, and end user account maintenance in Windows Server Active Directory.
