ABOUT CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF PSYCHIATRY (CIP)

Central Institute of Psychiatry is a 650 bedded Tertiary Referral & Post-Graduate teaching Institute, a premier facility in Eastern India, which runs regular postgraduate (MD and Diploma) courses in Psychiatry & Psychological medicine for MBBS Doctors; M.Phil and Ph.D. courses in Clinical Psychology and Psychiatric Social Work along with Post Graduate Diploma course in Psychiatric Nursing for qualified nurses. All these courses are regulated by the Ranchi University, Ranchi. It has Departments of Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, Psychiatric Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, Pathology etc. It has six adult psychiatric units, three units each for male and female patients, one Child Psychiatric Unit and one Centre for Addiction Psychiatry or drug De-Addiction Centre (DAC), besides a Center for Cognitive Neurosciences, two occupational therapy units (one each for male and female patients) and a Rehabilitation Centre. Apart from a Psychiatric Out-patient Department, there is a separate Psychosocial OPD too, primarily devoted for psychosocial assessment and management of out-patients. The institute has one of the best libraries in India with around 650 journal subscriptions.

Professional Experience:

3 years’ experience as a Junior Resident at Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi.

Trained in Clinical interviewing, Mental Status Examination, Diagnosis and holistic management of various psychiatric disorders.

Trained in S.S. Raju Center for Addiction Psychiatry, Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi for a period of 2 months.

Three months exclusive training in Erna Hoch Center for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi and management of various disorders like Autism, ADHD, Learning disabilities, Conduct problems and Mental retardation.

Trained in K.S. Mani Center for cognitive neurosciences, Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi, for a period of 2 months with experience in epilepsy clinic.

Special training in sleep studies including Polysomnography and sleep disorders.

Technical Experience:

40 channel whole night Polysomnography (EB Neuro, Sandman Elite).

In depth knowledge of Electro-encephalography.

Application and knowledge of Simulinks MATLAB.

Basic knowledge of Evoked Response Potential (ERP) and Regional Transcranical Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS).
