SAP PI Roles / Responsibilities

PLAN

Understand business requirement by interacting with client, functional team, EDI consultants, various other tools vendors like Banks etc.

Understand the level of complexity involved in customer’s system landscape.

Prepare initial plan, estimate the budgets incase third party software is required understand the feasibility & prepare final plan with cost effective solutions & delivery timelines.

Provide technical solutions.

Analyze & document the scope through technical specifications.

Understand the project risks, challenges & prepare a plan with the alternate solutions.

PREPARE

Based on the scope prepare technical designs & technical configuration.

Gather requirements for Application Designing.

Maintain Business components in System landscape directory.

Gather communication parameters like FTP details, RFC destination, HTTP/Proxy Destination, SOAP URL, JDBC connection, drivers etc for connectivity.

Closely work with Network, Basis, Client administrators & appropriate administrators to analyze the challenges & fix the connectivity issues.

Build programs &Maintain the documents in Solution manager as a compliance process for auditing.

Core-Responsibilities taken up:

Worked on various SAP -to - Non SAP applications & various applications to business processes etc.

Worked with multiple clients that include Insurance, Chemical Industry, Pharmaceuticals, Construction Company, Electronics & controls Ltd companies.

For an Insurance client been onsite to Chicago (US). Interacted with business, functional team & understood the integration requirement& implemented the project successfully.

Provided integration solutions to integrate various applications to applications, business processes, application to business processes and vice-versa. Few of the applications are SAP ECC to CASS Information systems, Descartes, ZGPS etc. Each application or business process had more than 1 system, its own data – format, different medium of exchange etc. These systems are also inter-connected with high-level of security, protocols in DMZ making the integration more complicated. I have provided valuable & cost-effective solutions in the past & expecting to deliver the same for future projects.

These integration solutions are used for Enterprise Resource Planning & automating the enterprise packages such as sales & distribution, inventory, finance, HR, material management, transport management, shipment & delivery tracking processes etc.

Built programs with techniques to increase fault tolerance, reliability, scalability, design governance, enhanced features, improve logging for transparency, interoperability etc.

Cass information systems, Bourque Rail tracking system, Transcore system, Strategic wave mail interfaces are few of the integrated systems with sap that are running in cost effective operating model successfully that are developed by me.

Transcore system is real time tracking device. This device is used by client to track the ships/barges etc on North American waterways that are used for shipments or delivery of Client's goods. I have worked on integrating the SAP with real time tracking data with the transcore system.

Proven track record of converting complex business requirements into technical solutions removing deployment barriers, reducing complexity & quick delivery time.

Hands on with various EDI Invoices, Purchase order, Shipment & Billing Notice, Despatch advice, Delivery & Purchase order acknowledgements.

Provided support with daily monitoring activities. Set up alerting based on alert rules & automated the alerting procedure. Monitored through Solution Manager for single stack systems.

Done upgrades from PI 7.0 to PI 7.3 & PI 7.1 to PI 7.3.1.

Enhancements – RFC change requests & incidents/tickets are assigned to PI team. Based on the business criticality, work on the enhancements or new interfaces if required.

Most of the enhancements include mapping changes for real time data. Addition or replacements of new vendors may cause source & target application systems/processes to be replaced with new design objects/adapter etc. Most of these enhancements come from addition of new financial institutions/Banks etc. Most of the Order to cash scenarios also require time to time enhancements due to new shipping techniques/systems being added to the landscapes. Weekend maintenances.
