Senior Audio Technician

Oversee entire audio systems and video switchers for C-SPAN’s field programming department including the planning, organizing and day-to-day management of C-SPAN’s Studio and Field/ENG department

DUTIES:

●Develop and implement training in ENG audio and video switching equipment for all field technicians

●Plan, research and direct purchase of all field audio inventory

●Supervise all aspects of television broadcast productions including overseeing direction of camera operators and robotics, audio systems, video switchers, field lighting, transmission including satellite, microwave, and fiber optics, video tape, video and audio engineering, recording and master control

●Lead multi-camera field production teams through daily live and taped broadcast events such as hearings, news briefings, panel discussions, speeches, interviews, ceremonies, book festivals and all other C-SPAN public affairs programming

●Utilize comprehensive knowledge of all ENG equipment to troubleshoot technical issues during live and taped broadcast events to ensure high technical quality

●Review and analyze broadcasts to evaluate effective strategies and tactics

●Plan, organize and manage production logistics including selecting equipment, overseeing staff assignments and monitoring and reviewing work of production teams

●Ensure the quality of entire production including collaboration with producers, editors and post-production graphic teams

●Serve as primary C-SPAN liaison to plan technical logistics with press event organizers

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

●Served as primary audio director for C-SPAN’s coverage of both President Obama’s inaugurations. This included planning and organizing audio infrastructure, monitoring and troubleshooting operations, and supervising transmission

●Directed audio operations for C-SPAN’s coverage of the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Democratic National Conventions

●Served as audio director for C-SPAN’s first HD Supreme Court Series

●Served as audio director for all of C-SPAN’s 2008, 2012, and 2016 Presidential Campaign coverage including broadcasts of all Presidential debates, primaries and campaign trail coverage
