Objective

Seeking a full-time position as a mud engineer, instructor, or a drilling/lab technician. As a mud engineer for a total of about 20 years, very familiar with and conversant in the drilling process. I will also work on a project basis – either based out of here in Colorado; but I would preferably like to relocate to Texas!

Summary of Qualifications:

Roughnecked all floor positions on 10,000’ rotary rig in Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming (old school!) for about a year (parts of 1976, 1977 and 1978). Learned the drilling process and the rig “psychology”.

Attended comprehensive 2.5 month-long drilling fluids school in Houston, TX in 1978 (the old IMCO Services). Graduated at top of class.

20 years of experience in water, oil-based, weighted and most recently the polymer systems used in horizontal drilling.

Excellent driving record; excellent care of company vehicles and all property.

Excellent health; single.

Basic Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word skills.

Good laboratory skills – able to pilot test.

Hydro Resources Rocky Mountain (Ft. Lupton, CO) July 2007-August 2016

Mud Engineer

Worked on numerous S-curve wells for Encana and Noble; and many horizontals for Whiting at Pawnee Buttes in D-J Basin.

Saw a variety of well problems, including stuck pipe (mix and calculate spot displacement), severe lost circulation (maintain inventory of variety of material), shallow gas kicks (calculate kill weight, order, mix barite), carbonate contamination (on location, frequent mud checks while drilling zone).

Learned water-well drilling process (reverse circulation) and worked on several water-well mud systems.

Wrote mud programs for the area. Performed well summaries at end of well to send to operator; costs, billing at end of several wells.

As senior engineer in the field for several years, trained new hires in doing basic mud checks and made familiar with the problems of the basin.

Maintained good customer relations by timely service and being on location when needed. Good personal organizational skills.

Laid off due to lack of work.

White Rock Kennels (Forney, TX) July 1995-March 2007

Kennel Manager

Took care of all aspects of breeding, whelping, training, showing, shipping of pups and dogs, and

correspondence in private hobby kennel of 15-20 medium-sized dogs. Also took care of physical facilities. Attention to detail and organizational skills used in this position. Position ended when no longer required.

IMCO Services/M-I Drilling Fluids/Contract work/other work during lay-off periods Jan. 1978- July 1995

Mud Engineer located in Rock Springs, Riverton, Casper and Denver/various

Worked numerous Madden Deep Unit wells in the Wind River Basin of Central Wyoming for Monsanto (18,000’+ wells with CaCl2/diesel invert emulsions). MDU known for high-pressure gas, severe lost circulation and high temperatures. Very familiar with emulsions and doing the mud checks required. Did a lot of mixing of different weight and volume of muds (mass balance equations). Worked the Bighorn 1-5 record well (at the time, around 1985 – 24,877’) Also maintained LSND and lignosulfonate muds in the Red Desert area for Amoco and Davis Oil.

With merger of IMCO and Magcobar, working for M-I Drilling Fluids (December 1986). Laid off due to lack of

work in January 1987. Re-hired by M-I in July of 1987 and worked on contract basis on and off until October 1991.

In-between contract jobs, worked at a greenhouse, for a vet, for temporary agencies, cleaned houses, etc

Worked for Quality Drilling Fluids (to become Hydro Resources above) from November 1993-July 1995 in the D-J Basin.
