Job Description :

AS SCRUB N URSE

Checks operative schedule slip for patients name, surgery to be perform and

anesthesiologists name

Assembles and prepares the sterile packs, instruments, equipments, gloves,

sutures, and other necessary supplies needed in specific operation

Review the surgeons requirement and preference for specific operative cases

Prepare equipments, lines, instruments, in the sterile fields

Assist the surgeon and surgical assistants as a sterile scrub nurse

Be systematic, accurate, and conscientious in carrying out techniques and

p rocedures in setting up the surgical suite

Maintain an accurate count of needles, sponges and instruments

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is essential to anticipate the surgeon

has needs and reduce the amount of t ime required for procedures.

Check operative schedule

Coordinates the activities of the room, delegates activities to other team

members, implement the nursing care, serves as the patients advocate and

ensures that the environment is safe for the patient

Checks patients name with the chart and schedule, and makes sure that the

patient properly signed the consent for surgery and the f loor nurse gave pre-

op medication

Completes documentation, keeps an accurate nurses record containing

sponge count, start and end of all the anesthesia and surgery

Completes the operative records before the surgeon leaves the surgical suite

by asking about the post-operative diagnosis and specimens that needs to

sent to the laboratory for diagnosis

Make sure that sponges, needles, and instruments count is complete

Reports to PACU nurse about patients pre-operative status, pertinent

i nformation about int ra-operative phase, and performs a preliminary

evaluation of the patients post-operative status determine outcome of

n ursing actions
