Project Management / New Product Introduction
IBM, Dell Computer
Interface between development engineering and manufacturing facilities worldwide to ensure manufacturing facilities worldwide have all necessary information and assistance for a successful and on schedule new product launch, and are factory ready for new product releases and assist in resolving issues throughout the development phases and during pre-production manufacturing builds.
This was accomplished through constant interaction with development and manufacturing engineers, Procurement, ERP planning, and IBM sites worldwide from design, through development phases, to market availability. A primary focus was to ensure an optimum supply of each part on the Bill of materials (BOM) globally, at proper EC level to support new product introduction.
Accomplishment
- While at IBM, 6 years out of 7 years I was evaluated annually at a 1 performance rating, which was the highest performance rating attainable.
- I received awards for several successful new product introductions.
- I travelled to Malaysia and Ireland to ensure problematic builds would meet their schedule. All problems were resolved and the factories made their release schedule.
IBM Project Manager / Procurement Specialist:
Assigned to lead a worldwide Business Practices SAP Implementation team responsible to organize and facilitate work sessions to map current procurement processes, then develop and implement common processes for upcoming SAP implementation.

Projects included creating help system (F1) for the Enertia Software (ForeHelp and RoboHelp), data conversion, data cleansing and migration to incorporate client data, led team to create new web site, various graphics projects, re-create documents and forms included in the software, maintaining web site and evaluate new software packages for the company owner. Accomplishment - I created their original F1 Help system, led a team to design a new web site.
HP Project Manager:
HP SW development team creates software deliverables to be released to the HP web site. These went through several processes for value add, packaging, etc. Many of the SoftPacs were not making it through all the processes to be posted on the web site for automatic release. I was hired to learn the processes, discover why some were not making it to the web site and resolve the problem. Accomplishment - I found and solved the problem in less than 6 months, developed metrics to show their progress through the processes, how long they took during each process, and when they posted to the web site.

Accomplishment - arranged with vendors and international partners to disposition ignored scrap, identified and arranged for the vendors to buy back, re-work and sell the parts they could, re-work and sell the parts which could be used in other manufacturing locations or held for warranties. This saved HP about $900,000 as well as the other costs associated with holding excess inventory.
Global Inventory Control:
Analyze and balance inventory between eight IBM manufacturing facilities globally while maintaining optimum inventory at each. Tracked and coordinated the parts transfers between sites.
Global Materials Management:
Interacted with international Materials Management organizations to gather and validate build schedules for each site and allocate constrained materials to maximize shipment capability. Accomplishment - No order was shipped late Worldwide due to lack of one of the parts I managed. - One year I saved the Australia facility $1,000,000 on December 31 by reallocating inventory that had not been properly dispositioned.
Procurement Production Buyer:
Production buyer with authority to authorize up to $1,000,000. Visited vendor locations across the US, negotiating terms, collaborating with suppliers to resolve issues and parts constraints, and allocating constrained parts.
