I began working in Quality in 1981 as a Quality Assurance Technician. Presently, I am a Contract Quality Representative with Verify, Inc. Prior, I was employed as a Director of Operations and Quality for a Design, Manufacturing and Service Corporation. Also, my experience includes: Work Internationally as a Quality Director for a Plastic Injection Molding/Turnkey Assembly Operation (Electromechanical Assembly), Quality Assurance Manager for a ISO/QS9000 Manufacturing Company, Senior Quality Engineer in the Aerospace & Aircraft Industries, Receiving Inspection Supervisor, Certified Quality Systems & Software Auditor, DCAS Quality Assurance Specialist (Government Inspector - Certified in the Electronics Commodity), and Machinist. I have Qualified Products and Processes for Government, Commercial and Private Industries.
As a Quality Customer Representative, I have worked closely with various Plating and NDT companies to Improve Quality and Delivery.
While working as a Director of Quality and Quality Assurance Manager, I was not only responsible for the Implementation and Management of the Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities – including Total Quality Management Systems and Six Sigma Programs; but provided expertise in the areas of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen Methods, 5S, CAPA and Process Engineering. Continuous Improvement of existing Manufacturing Processes and Procedures, along with the Implementation of Advanced Technologies - resulted in superior products at reduced costs.
My expertise includes various techniques (including SPC, DOE, Process Capability Studies, Gage R&R Studies, PPAPs, Control Plans and FMEAs) in establishing the Root Cause of Deficiencies and Non-conformances, and the implementation of effective Corrective and Preventive Actions.
I have direct experience with component and device qualification testing, certification and approval – along with systems integration. This includes: selection of the component, location of multiple sources, execution of Supplier Manufacturing Processes Audits and Management System Surveys, and the establishment of product performance requirements. Through positive communication with internal and external elements, we were able to ensuring timely and effective Corrective Action of quality and performance issues. My responsibilities have included the generation and maintenance of Approved Vendors Lists and Management Databases. Software programs utilized include: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Office, Visual Manufacturing, MAS 90, MRP II, Vantage, QATs, and LabView.
I have direct experience as a MRB Chairperson, and have participated in Program, Contract and Design Reviews. I maintain a working knowledge of Electronic Assemblies - including various types of Soldering Applications, Thru Hole and Surface Mount Technologies. I am certified in Electrostatic Discharge Requirements and Procedures, Wire and Cable Assembly Processes, and Printed Circuit Board Assembly Processes in accordance with IPC 610 & 620.
I have operated CNC and manual machining centers for the cutting of metal parts. Inspection of these products and assemblies included: Physical Dimensions (ANSI 14.5), Rockwell Hardness for Heat Treated Products, Porosity, Surface Finish, Tensile Strength, Eddy Current, and X-rays, Liquid Penetrant - to name a few. Physical Dimensions were obtained utilizing CMM’s (Optical and Contact), Optical Comparators, and basic hand tools.
I have performed various Deburring and Cleaning operations, which included the use of Nitrogen Plasma Cleaners. My welding experiences include Arc, Gas, Tig and Mig; and have performed physical inspections of these processes including Magnetic Particle Testing. Also, I have executed Manufacturing Process Audits, Management System Audits, and Certification Surveys for numerous Machine Shops, Heat Treaters, and Secondary Operation Companies.
I am familiar with AutoCAD and Pro E, and have utilized various types of Statistical Process Control Techniques - including Acceptance Sampling Procedures (Mil-std-105 and Zero Defects Plans). My experience includes the utilization of computerized programs for Six Sigma Compliance.
My education includes: a Degree in Quality Assurance – Specializing in Management and Technology, Course Work in Industrial Technology (West Coast University), and Formal Training in Electronics (USMC). While in the Marine Corps, I held and maintained a “Secret” Security Clearance.
Having been a private business owner, I possess a keen insight of what is required to maintain Customer Satisfaction - while remaining Profitable.
