Full Time

Employment:

BrenTronics. (Nov 2009 – Present)

Senior Mechanical Engineer - Project Manager (Supervise New Product Development – Energy Storage Solutions, Custom Li-Ion Battery Design & Development, Renewable Energy)

• Manage a Team of Engineers. Provide custom, sealed and rugged design solutions for renewable energy storage related to solar, wind, and fuel cell. Designs include all related products such as charging stations, adaptors, latching systems, plugs & connectors.

• Take the product from Marketing Specification, to production. Research & Development. Generate concepts to prove out the engineering design, direction and proof of principal. Submit applications for patents, use 3D modeling software for all designs, perform tolerance analysis, create 2D drawings, apply cost reduction techniques, communicate with vendors, etc.

• Design hand held tracking and communication products. Custom Li-Ion battery design. Products range widely from Aerospace industry, to US Military, Government, NATO, and UN. Design to a very demanding specification, all rugged, immersion sealed, shock proof, and have dependable interconnection. This includes in-house design of injection molded plastic housings and castings for Radio communication devices with Military design specification. Most of these products have high tolerance for abuse, and require high level of reliability in the field.

• Directly involved with custom assembly line using Fanuc robotic arms for resistance welding of 18650 Li-Ion cells, as well as automation of gluing housings along a complicated perimeter.

• Contribute to product innovation, develop proprietary methods of assembly and fixturing. Produced many patents for the industry. I am very proficient in 3D design & modeling software that include SolidWorks (currently used), Pro-E, SDRC, Co-Create, CATIA.

Leviton Corp. (Aug 2003 – Nov2009)

Senior Mechanical Engineer (New Product Design & Development – Commercial & Industrial Division)

• As part of New Product Development group, my responsibilities include designing new lines of products for commercial and residential use in domestic & international markets. Most of these products are high end home automation products, remote controls, and lighting control type devices.

• All products are designed for very high volume production, so there is a lot of emphasis on keeping the number of parts to the minimum, and keeping assemblies simple. I perform all mechanical design related tasks that take the product from Marketing Specification, to high volume production. I develop my own R&D concepts to prove out the engineering principal, submit applications for patents, work closely with Industrial Designers, use 3D modeling software for all designs, perform tolerance analysis, create 2D drawings, apply cost reduction techniques, communicate with vendors, etc.

• My strong engineering background from past experience of designing for plastic injection molding allow me to create superior products by keeping the number of parts down, keeping product assembly simple, simplify parts in a manner that significantly reduce complexity of injection molding tools, keep the overall cost of the product down, and keep overall product easily manufacturable.

• Further responsibilities include simplifying existing products that are currently in production, while keeping tooling changes to the minimal.

• Proficient in many different 3D design & modeling software.

Motorola Inc. ( May 1998 – Jul 2003 )

Mobile and Wireless System Division of Holtsville NY

• As a lead mechanical engineer on the project, my responsibilities include designing compact hand held wireless devices such as portable bar code scanners, cell phones, touch screen pda’s, their charging cradles and all related accessories. All products are designed for high volume production and withstand such tests as water & dust IP54 test, 4-6 foot drop test, tumbling

test, and vibration test.

• Responsible for performing all mechanical design related tasks leading product to high volume production. Tasks include creating engineering concepts that may lead to patents, using 3D modeling software for part design, performing tolerance analysis, creating 2D drawing layouts, cost reducing products, communicating with vendors, working with industrial designers, and all other intermediate steps.

• Apply my strong engineering background to design parts for plastic molding, magnesium casting, sheet metal design, rubber molding. Cost reduce existing products by simplifying designs while keeping tooling changes to the minimal. Improving overall product manufacturability. this includes designs of housings, spring loaded mechanisms, frames, battery contacts, designing for ultrasonic welding, designing assembly fixtures, etc.

• Underwent 3D CAD training in latest software release of SDRC, Co-Create, and very proficient in many other 3D Design and Modeling software, 2D part layout and Drafting, Sheet Metal, Mechanism Process Simulation, and Advanced Surfacing Techniques. Capable of working with imported IGES, DXF, VRML, STL files.

• Further responsibilities include design of electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical products. Work on large and medium scale project. Investigate and resolve complex problems on existing products. Design plastic enclosures and casted parts. Quantitative skills include proficiency in classical hand calculations of stress, strain, deflections and thermal analysis as well as detailed tolerance analysis of high precision systems.

Contracts:

Lockheed Martin Aerospace Corporation Summer Contract 1997 Bethpage, NY

A.T.D.C. (Advanced Technology and Development Center) @ C.D.S. (Contraband Detection System)

• Worked on Airport Security System for CDS

• Designed, sketched, built, and tested an array of mechanical device for CDS.

• Worked on Electron Beam Evaporator chamber, for custom coating of a target with C13.

• Worked with the team on assembly of a high energy column of a Radio Frequency (R.F.) proton accelerator.

• Developed a design for a gamma ray profile scanner under supervision of a project engineer. Used I-DEAS to layout 3D parts and final assembly sketches. Used I-DEAS to simulate the motion of the scanner, showing where Nuclear Resonance Phenomena based gamma source is created, spread out, and finally picked up in the sensor.

• Created a real time mechanical 3D simulation of a precision laser guide steering mechanism, to measure its angular motion worst case tolerance buildup, presenting the complexity of its motion within extreme environment of ultra violet rays. Used the simulation to conduct a check on the system, to assure that no possible interference exists between the moving parts within the sub-assemblies.

Mini-Baja

Race Team:

S.A.E. National Competition Mini Baja Team 1995-1997 Milwaukie WI

• Drafted the plans for the front suspension system for S.A.E. (Society of Automotive Engineers).

• Worked along with other team members designing chassy, engine mounts, and vehicle steering for the Mini Baja all terrain vehicle.

• Took active part in presentation of the design progress to the sponsors of the Midwest competition.
