TELECOMMUNICATIONS EXPERIENCE(Telone/Econet/Powertel)
Participated in joining 400 core communication cables outside Harare Telone Main Exchange. Have gathered that the biggest cable in Kadoma is 1 200 core. Inspected these cables(300 core, 400core, 800 core and
1 200 core in the main hole outside Kadoma Main Exchange and have seen these communication cables elsewhere. Witnessed connection of 300 core communication copper cables using splicing machine opposite ZETDC Kadoma District. Witnessed connection of telecommunication copper cables to paper Telone communication cables using sleeves and scotchlocks.
Worked and saw the Strowger Exchange in the then PTC Harare Main Exchange . Saw and inspected the Fetex Exchange Kadoma and Chinhoyi Exchange and the about 35 000 core or more are a total of cores entering an Exchange.
Witnessed and participated in the joining of fibre optic cables using a splicing machine along Parklane Street Harare. Have seen and visited
1.Harare Main Exchange
2.Kadoma Exchange
3.Chinhoyi Exchange
4.Avondale Exchange
Witnessed the building of Kadoma Base station on top of the mountain and realized the use of hollow cables in communication(conduit for fibre optics). Witnessed building of Waverly and Spaceman GlenNorah Base stations and telecommunications tower from scratch.
Method of research and Experience Acquisition

4.Pulse-code-modulators(PCM)
Main Points In The Telecommunication Industry
2 pair cable to telephone handset bandwidth=0.3-3.4 KHz which is utilized for voice and data. Lower side voice and upperside data which is achieved through a bandpass filter called a splitter
WIFI –MODEM/ROUTER Transmits WIFI signal to end user gadgets.
When joining copper paper cables we have to use sleeves to minimize width of cable.
Scotchlocks have to be used when joining jelly filled copper. The scotchlocks themselves are jelly filled
For fault-locating in telecommunication cables we use cable haunts, Time domain reflectometer(TDR) for faults on copper cables and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer(OTD) for fibre-optic
FETEX is a digital Exchange and Strowger an electro-mechanical switch
