Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
• I perform developmental assignments related to proper application of pay regulations effecting HRC employees, provide clerical support, and maintain pay, time and leave postings and processes for HRC Payroll
• I audit and reconciles time and attendance records to ensure accuracy of paid hours
(for full time and part time employees, temporary appointments, student appointments, trainees,
intermittent employees, etc.) premium pay (i.e. Sunday, Saturday, night Differential, Holiday, Standby /On Call, Overtime/Compensatory) for employees appointed under each personnel system. Leave
charges, balances, and accruals are audited for proper certifications
• I can work independently, but also work as a team member using a general understanding of what the
expected outcomes should be and has learned to ask for information from more experience team members in resolving situations that arise.
• I have the knowledge of coding for the automated system, & to enter data that will correct errors in
VATAS, that will get the correct pay action. Also do the follow up on the results as required. I have the knowledge of the computerized application to the system, and to know when to enter certain transactions and what effects those entries will have on the outcome.
I have the skill to be a qualified typist, as I type emails on the action forms, statistical reports, and routine correspondence responding to requests for information or requesting information.
• My work requires an in-depth knowledge of, and ability to work independently as well as a team member and make independent judgment with an extensive set of rules, regulations, and practices relating to civilian pay, covering a complicated block of accounts or cases; and/or broad knowledge of an extensive set of time and leave
rules, regulations, and practices. I have a broad knowledge of the structure of master record file keeping in various
computer system, and VATAS system.
• I research and code changes to employees’ records, which can include such items as taxes, annual leave
balances, sick leave balances, military leave, LWOP, address changes, jury duty, etc.
I performs work related to maintaining payroll records, regulations and policy,
researching night differential, overtime, comp time, holiday, or weekend premium issues. These
adjustment actions occur due to frequent correction of VATAS timesheets and other time and
attendance records. Employee documents errors, works to resolve issues that affect supervisors documenting the sub log & employee’s pay and leave. Instructing them when, what, why, & how to do the correction.
• Consistently communicates with the supervisors & employees & anyone else that needs my help and treat those
customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) with the upmost courteous, and
respect. I provide the customer with consistent information according to established policies
and procedures. I can handle conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and
appropriately to best assist them & their needs.
• I can process SF 52 form for promotions & changes of name & reassignments. I also processed SF0861 Travel comp time forms to make sure that employees received pay for the travel time that they endured.
