Avionics Specialist
Within the duties at which I perform at a craftsman level, I identify and isolate A-10, F-15, and U-2 integrated avionics systems malfunctions, and analyze performance. I operate integrated avionics systems to determine operational condition. I interpret equipment operation to isolate malfunctions in systems such as attack control, instrument, flight control, communications, navigation, and penetration aids. Undergoing troubleshooting I trace data flow and wiring diagrams to find the cause of malfunctions. Along with schematics I also use built-in test functions, electronic measuring equipment, support aerospace ground equipment (AGE), and hand tools to identify and repair systems.
Within the repair guidelines I Removed, installed, aligned, and checked integrated avionics systems. I also removed and installed line replaceable units and aligned systems. I have advanced knowledge of operational checks of externally mounted avionics equipment, to include boresight systems, such as FLIR mounted devices. I also perform intermediate or organizational maintenance level modifications, such as the introduction and integration of the Northrop Grumman Litening A/T Targeting Pod.
I was selected as the team leader on all tiger team integration and development projects; within the scope of team leader I would coordinate and maintain scheduled tasks and manning operations. For example, the fleet was engaged in an integration of the Litening pod as previously mentioned, the task was given 4 months to be completed and through my effective and dedicated management effort I was able to lead the small team in completing the project 3 weeks ahead of schedule with zero discrepancies.
My daily duties as lead NCO required the inspection of integrated avionics systems, posts entries, and maintain inspection and maintenance records. I Inspect avionics systems and determine operational status. From these inspections I determines corrective action adequacy. I Reviewed maintenance management publications and procedures to obtain avionic systems information, and from these publications and experience I recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
As the lead NCO of the Avionics flight, I conducted supervisory to subordinate management to include performance rating, promotion, training, and discipline. As the supervisor of 63 employees I would maintain records and coordinate daily activities pertaining to both work and home.
