Professional Experience
MD Anderson Cancer Center – Houston, Texas 2006 – March 2017
Manager - SAN Storage, Backup & Recovery and Mainframe System Programmers
Lead 3 highly technical groups with a total of 15 technical staff members.
Support 8+ petabytes of fiber attached storage in a virtual SAN environment, all across 3 physical locations.
Manage 14 petabytes of NAS storage supporting a customer base of 20,000 users and researchers.
Instrumental in the design and support of a 4 tier GPFS storage environment supporting the research High Performance Computing Cluster.
Responsible for application, infrastructure and customer needs for enterprise backup and recovery for 2,000+ physical and virtual client nodes, averaging 200TB’s of data backed up nightly.
Accountable for operational budgets totaling $8M and capital budgets of $15M annually.
Other duties included, design, procurement, change management, and project management for all three infrastructure areas.

Technical Services Manager
Manage team of 10 which included design, purchase, implementation and support for 32 UNIX and LINUX systems with SAN attached storage.
Responsible for the change management function for the computing environment for major clinical, ambulatory and business applications.
Implemented and provided support of high availability clustering for 5 UNIX environments. One of my major accomplishments has been providing three 9’s for system up time for two years straight.
Management and support for an IBM Mainframe (z2066) environment.
Designed and managed the implementation/support of the enterprise backup environment using IBM TSM product.
Major accomplishment included Technical Lead for the design and implementation of the SAN storage solution that provides 24x7 uptime, data synchronization and auto fail-over for the Radiology PACS imaging system.
Also included interim position as Manager over-seeing the Telecommunication and Computer Operations groups for a year while they looked for a replacement
Accountable for budget management for hardware and software for storage and backup infrastructure.
