1. Direct, communicate, organize, and control the implementation of company's safety and health policies and procedures, in order to ensure subordinates perform their duties in a safe manner and environmentally conscious.
2. Organize and control the short and long-term safety implementation plans with combine forces of any related parties (e.g, Project Control, Engineering QA/QC and Construction from Central Services, etc.), to ensure minimize unexpected losses and to achieve reasonable star ratings from OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series).
3. Liaise with all area's departments and groups at all levels and maintain good work relationship, in compliance with applicable government safety regulations and company safety policies, standards and procedures.
4. Develop and conduct interface communication routinely with management related to safety, industrial health and hygiene and work environment matters, in order to provide expertise and adequate assistance for safety and health officer in solving the problems in the field.
5. Implement, manage, and review the safety programs and activities that focus on the prevention of incidents with analyze and forecast safety performance to ensure the PT. Freeport Indonesia Safety and Health Management System in line with the PT. Freeport Indonesia Management requirement effectiveness.
6. Control, review, and evaluate performance of the subordinates, i.e., Area Safety Officers and Area/Department Safety Representatives and other related parties (e.g. Contractors and Privatized Companies working at the designated area) to enhance their expertise and knowledge through training programs and day to day interaction as well as to meet department's long-term target, and perform their task responsibilities in a professional manner. 7. Monitor and check all safety related procedures, policies and guidelines implementation for all projects to ensure the safety officer in performing the management operations both in regular and irregular events are executed safely in compliance with the safety existing policies, standards and procedures.
8. Review and organize the use of safety operating budget, and approve purchase of safety equipment and materials that necessary to achieve established budget goals according to company safety policies, standards and procedures.
9. Organize, manage, and supervise safety department's sponsored programs for off the job safety, safety campaigns, Industrial Hygiene and public health programs and safety publication programs conducted to all related parties to boost and keep the awareness levels up for occupational safety and health.
10. Supervise all RPOs (Radiation Protection Officers) and radiation workers, by controlling the usage of unclear devices and other equipment containing nuclear at the designated area (e.g., Central Services Division area) to ensure its nuclear devices are in safe condition and under control accurately to comply with the Government of Indonesia and international standards. 11. Control and maintain database system related records and report to ensure proper implementation of the existing system in accordance to SAS (Safety Administration System) in supporting to plan, prepare and present material at regular safety meetings, discussions, talks and promotion with senior management.
12. Supervise and control the employee health tests to ensure the utilize of the industrial hygiene/occupational health function implementation to promote healthier work places at the operation areas in accordance to company safety and health policies, standards and procedures.
13. Plan and direct an extensive inspection and auditing program throughout the assigned areas to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective action to close the loop of the recommendations of internal and external audits and investigation of incidents and other unexpected mishaps.
14. Investigate incidents and accidents, including near misses and occupational illnesses, to determine basic causes and recommend actions to prevent recurrence to assist the management in implementing recommendation according to the PTFI Safety and Health management system and GOI regulations.
15. Organize, control, and assist for FRESH/OHSAS Steering Committee, FRESH/OHSAS Area/Dept. Committees, Radiation Protection Organization, Deputy Technical Manager(DTM), Radiation Protection Officers, Crisis Management Teams and Steering Committees in performing their functions, in compliance with PT. Freeport Indonesia and Government of Indonesia regulations.
The key challenges in this position include:
To eliminate and/or minimize incident frequencies and rates, including near misses and occupational illnesses. The jobholder shall evaluate the incidents and recommend corrective actions, provide procedure, conduct training and keep good communication to related department.
To provide correct information during investigation by supply the nature of incidents to 68 Safety Office for correct injury classifications.
To develop the subordinate's expertise. The jobholder gives/shares safety experience by interaction on day-to-day basis.
To stop any particular operation under safety reason or incompliance with Government of Indonesia regulations. The jobholder needs recommend and alternative and convince the user to receive the reasons.
To prevent unauthorized people from entering PT. Freeport Indoenesia project areas. The jobholder requires coordination and work closely with PT. Freeport Indonesia Security and CLO Department
