Ameritech/SBC-Centralized Account Marketing

SENIOR SAS DEVELOPER ANALYST JULY 1997-JAN. 2000

Used SAS, created an automated process that identified data integrity errors in the Marketing Data Warehouse Teradata based and Remarking Data Warehouse Oracle based. Both warehouses needed to be reconciled and in sync prior to movement of account information between the sources to assure proper customer service. Due to the high volume of data in both warehouse 3.4 million/12 million rows and the short time period that both warehouses were static 3-5 days’ manual intervention was not an option.

Created the process to automatically extract data from both warehouses using SAS/SQL/Macros. Used the information gleaned from interviews with the analyst about undocumented processes and procedures to create logic that automatically produced reports and flat files to be used to review suspect accounts. The nature of the data required that the process be dynamic enough to determine incorrect or abnormal records and process the records accordingly.

Developed programs and tools used to audit and quantify processes used by Ameritech to transfer data between systems, identify relationships within a known corporate structure, report sales and product market penetration. This tool had to be revamped due to Ameritech s expansion outside of the 5-state region into a nationwide presence. Customer Service, Sales and Marketing and Finance departments use this tool to verify proper processing of accounts.

Provided the code used for account error identification and statistical reporting within the data warehouse. Provided Ad hoc reports from Teradata used in determining new rules to further enhance customer to business unit distribution for both data warehouses.

This application also identified customers most susceptible to loss to the competition. These applications were instrumental in reacquiring 50 of the customer base lost to competition due in 1997.
