RE: Medical Records Technician
Throughout my work history with newspaper, foodservice, and more recently a large medical group, I have been able to utilize both written and oral communication types via phone, email, and face to face meetings to develop excellent customer service communication skills for both internal and external customers. As an example, an average day may involve talking to clinicians and medical staff about EMR or site safety issues. Additionally, professional vendors involved with safety or NCQA may have questions/information about upcoming meetings and products they offer. As always, part of communication involves knowing when to escalate questions/issues to the supervisor or manager.
I was hired by Mountain View Medical Group as an administrative data entry clerk for a Diabetic Registry. Being very accurate with the data entry/documentation, led to additional responsibilities of data abstraction and data entry for diabetic chart audits into the NCQA website. NCQA audits are very exact in the data measures which are acceptable as an indicator for complete and proper care of the diabetic patient. NCQA uses HEDIS standards, so I followed a precise process delineated by my manager, which I later typed up in a step by step manual format. In addition, medical terminology and physiology are utilized in an audit situation, this assures that I have the correct data needed for a database or statistical reports. I am able to complete multiple daily tasks, and take on complicated projects throughout the year. Daily tasks included electronic document indexing and answering phones on the EMR helpdesk. Periodic tasks (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually) revolved around NCQA, teaching new employee orientation, inspecting medical sites for safety issues, conducting quarterly safety monitor meetings, and preparing the mandatory OSHA safety review for all employees. Documentation is key in this position for each of the tasks listed above.
On review of my resume, my educational history shows that I have the ability to learn new skills. My employment history indicates dependability, high morals, and good work ethics. In addition, my orientation to detail, and record with accuracy would be of great benefit to any business. I have been employed by several companies and worked with them for numerous years. I am flexible, and can adjust to various work styles in a team oriented environment, or complete tasks without supervision. I believe that I bring valuable skills to the work environment, and would appreciate the opportunity to show you what a valuable asset I would be to your staff.
Sincerely, Nancy L. Springate
