R & D Pilot Plant/Lab Technician
Work with minimal supervision, independently conducting research and development on the production of renewable fuels using the company’s developed proprietary technology platform to convert biomass into renewable crude oil that is processed into gasoline, diesel and fuel oil blend stocks. The daily responsibilities of my position include the following:
Some of my responsibilities working in the PRU (process research unit project) included running chemical properties tests on samples of crude oil and catalyst such as viscosity, surface tension, surface area, permeability, moisture, density etc.
Conduct research and development on various catalysts by using steamers and fracking reactors
Utilize Leco C230, Blue M ovens, density separation experiments, Agilent Gas Chromatography, and LIMS software.
Operating, maintaining, and modifying equipment and parts used for the biofuel applications (e.g. operate and perform preventative maintenance on pressure vessel/reactor, steamers, and analytical equipment. Also, troubleshooting ISCO pumps, vacuum pumps and other type of pumps, installing and modifying pipes, tubes and Swagelok fittings).
Carrying out catalyst preparations in the pilot plant.
Manipulate spreadsheets to compounding the catalysts, spray drying and post processing.
Properly handle small scale analytical methods.
