OPENING STATEMENT
Highly motivated clinical research professional with 10 years postdoctoral scientific research experience in human disease genetics and the role of inflammation in disease. Working in clinical research for 6 years. Experience in medical writing, editing, clinical study design, protocol development and statistical analysis. Current role involves collaboration with diverse clinical and scientific teams involved in interventional and non-interventional clinical research studies. Proven track record in clinical research, publishing and teaching. • The role of inflammatory cytokines in preterm labor and pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH).
• Cholinergic regulation of inflammatory cytokines at the maternal/fetal interface.
• The effect of magnesium sulfate tocolysis on TNF and inflammatory gene expression at the maternal/fetal interface and uterus during infection-induced preterm labor. Skills: Quantitative RT-PCR, microarrays, flow cytometry, immunoassays, primary cell culture. Conclusion: Research lead to a better understanding of the role of inflammatory cytokines in preterm labor and preeclampsia, how magnesium sulfate and other test compounds work to delay preterm labor and improve outcomes in women with preeclampsia. Research also demonstrated potential mechanism for magnesium sulfate and improved fetal outcomes during maternal infection-induced preterm labor. 2000-2004: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

• Gene discovery and function studies in inherited pediatric skeletal development disorders
• Human hereditary MMP-2 deficiency and the multicentric osteolysis.
• Discovered CMG-2 mutations resulting in loss of gene function result in allelic disorders, Juvenile Hyaline Fibromatosis and Infantile Systemic Hyalinosis.
• Evaluation of an MMP-2 deficient animal model and the effect of MMP-2 deficiency on the osteogenic potential of bone marrow stem cells.
Skills: DNA Sequencing, genotyping, quantitative RT-PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, animal model characterization, diagnostic assay development, stem cell culture. Conclusion: Research lead to discovery of novel disease causing mutations in MMP-2 and CMG-2 and their role in skeletal development.
