QA Test Engineer

Responsible for configuring/ building stability test racks for Xfinity X1 DVR set-top boxes, then maintaining racks, performing testing, and reporting issues/behaviors observed on the units under test. Other duties include:

Downloading code to stability rack units or other test units, checking log files, supporting debug efforts.

Executing detailed test cases, executing test scripts, and reporting bugs in a JIRA system.

Develop spreadsheets/reports to capture failures and communicate issues to various groups within the test organization.

Setting up test racks including setting up networks and network equipment for remote access from off-site locations.

POLYCOM/SPECTRALINK, Global Services Organization, Andover, MA June 2010 – Dec 2012

Quality Assurance Repair Engineer– Wireless Repair

Tasked to provide on-site RMA support at Test Technology Inc.’s repair facility in Marlton NJ, a leading repair vendor for Polycom Wireless Phone Products. Responsible for supporting the service, test, repair, and reverse logistics effort for Polycom's SpectraLink Wireless Phone products. Duties included RF test equipment and test fixture maintenance & calibration support, test data analysis, and root cause failure analysis which includes identifying manufacturing process and or design flaws and suggesting improvements to minimize future failures. Enforced ESD and safety requirements via production line audits. Worked with operators to stress importance of these procedures and processes and its impact on product quality.

Reduced failure rates for various models by nearly 50% in a year by identifying manufacturing process issues and correctable engineering design flaws, while improving repair process with updated repair procedures.

Set up new repair lines for each product introduced to facility and did so on schedule.

Identified RF screen room assembly and maintenance issues that led to false product test failures tgat plagued initial production line. Remedied issues which then eliminated problem.

Hardware Development Engineer – 2003-2009

Functioned as primary hardware lead, overseeing the design, development, and testing of the voice sub-section of voice enabled cable modems and gateway products. This included having the lead role in all voice hardware design activity for the newly created Wireline Access Networks Fiber to the Premise business. Development responsibilities focused on component selection, PCB layout, writing test procedures and design documents, performance testing, troubleshooting, and off-site test support.

Designed auto detection fault scheme for SLIC interfaces that resolved customer installation issues and saved company 100’s of thousands of dollars in warranty and repair costs.

Developed a fix that allowed cable modems existing SLIC hardware to function with a problematic business phone system that preserved a major customer account since competitors could not resolve same problem.

Completed MDU Voice Design on schedule with product meeting all product test requirements.

Assisted with off-site customer acceptance testing for FTTP products which achieved final product acceptance.

Compiled information that supported the design plan for Motorola’s initial FTTP voice product lines.

Hardware Engineering Specialist - 2000-2003

Main responsibility was to focus on the development of voice enabled cable modems and MTA’s.
